really? by Pittsburgh?
Denver just beat the team many predicted to make the Super Bowl. And that's still not good enough?
Yes, by Pittsburgh. Denver has one impressive win and it just happened. They beat Cincy on a fluky play and then beat 3 crappy teams in Dallas, Oakland and Cleveland.
Nothing was wrong with the offense. Just the defense.
SwiftSilentDead
10/11/09, 04:40 PM
Denver's much better than I ever thought they'd be, particularly on defense. Don't think the offense is anything special though.
Exactly my thoughts.

Seriously...Denver just beat a pretty good team...Indy would probably win against them, but I can't see that many more teams that would definitely beat them.

Denver's defense would give the Pittsburgh offense fits.

I love this Denver team, and I am so glad McDaniels has shut up the people hating on him when he first came over.
The strides they've made on defense under Nolan has been incredible.

I'm still not sold on the Denver defense being that good. They're playing so far above their heads right now. They'll come down to earth eventually.
Drew Beringer
10/11/09, 04:43 PM
Pittsburgh beat a shitty Tennessee team in OT, lost to a good Bears team, choked against Cincinnati, almost blew a 28 point lead against San Diego, and beat Detroit by 8 today.

People said that before they played Dallas and again before the New England game.
Shutting out New England in the second half is pretty impressive
Until The Bombs
10/11/09, 04:44 PM
Indy would beat Denver, they are the most impressive team in the AFC by far. Baltimore and Denver would be a great defensive battle. Why all the love for Pittsburgh, they haven't looked good at all this season.
You're right. Already forgot about Pittsburgh's losses to Chicago and Cincy. If they played right now, I'd take Pittsburgh over Denver, but it's not the easy decision that I implied. Right now, Denver has to be viewed as no worse than the 5th best team in the AFC, as high as the 2nd best.
Of course if the Colts somehow get beaten tonight, which no way in hell should happen, the case could be made that they're the best in the AFC.
Until The Bombs

I was one of those people. After pulling it out against the Pats, I don't see how anyone can make that case.
Until The Bombs
10/11/09, 04:47 PM
Thing about their offense is that they're still coming into it. You've got a new system, new QB, rookie RB, #1 receiver that sat out the preseason. I still imagine the defense will continue to be their biggest strength, but their offense has the potential to improve.
ForlrnPerplxity
10/11/09, 04:49 PM
If you don't see how the Denver defense has improved that much then you probably haven't seen them play at all this year or last year.
Car Crash Dream
10/11/09, 04:52 PM
I am so proud of Denver for finally pulling it together. I was born a Denver fan, and a Denver fan I've stayed even through all the bad seasons. The best part of this is that my roommate is a huge pats fan and said that Brady was going to destroy the Broncos when he could potentially be blamed for the loss with that fumble within the 2 minutes.

So many new players I think it's 8 new starters? Mcdaniels/Nolan did a great job rebuilding the whole defense

Denver beat a team many predicted to go to the Super Bowl, but the Patriots have not looked nearly as good as many expected them to be this year. Still a lot of games to go, but it just hasn't clicked yet.

10/11/09, 08:42 PM
well, that's officially it for the titans. a couple bad luck / close / overall good games turn into a team that has no confidence and forgot who they are. This is by far the biggest disappointment of a team i've ever witnessed in my life as a sports fan as far as a full season goes and we're not even a quarter through the season.
we'll be 0-6 next week @ NE
looking at the titans remaining schedule, throwing in some injuries, and factoring in the fact that Vince Young could be playing the rest of the way the titans can only hope to win 5-6 games AT MOST.
Here's hoping they only win around 4 so the titans can get a top 5 pick.

Indy pretty much has the division in the bag already
here's to praying the Texans can stop the jekyll/hyde good week/bad week tendency theyve showed thus far and get some sort of consistency that will allow them to compete for a wild card slot
not holding out hope though

i really doubt any other AFC south team has a shot right now. the Texans have a very outside shot, but from what i've seen so far no.
and what happened to Slaton, has the guy gotten over 50 yards rushing once yet this year? I've watched every game and he's looked really bad from the line of scrimmage.

on that note, i'm taking the Bengals as my rooting interest the rest of the season so i stay interested in the rest of the year.
ugh barely. a win is a win, but we nearly gave it away.
yeah at first it was great, but by the end it was getting way too close. happy we won and glad the 49ers lost. if we could top the division again...that would be awesome. i'm jumping the gun, i know, ha. but we can all hope :)

yeah, he played well in the first 2 games, but he's had bad #'s the last 3 games (where he hasn't exactly had tons of help), and that franchise has to figure out if VY is the answer, of if the top 10 pick they are likely gonna get from this season should be used on a QB

You're one of the only people that projected the Bengals to win, though. And you were only 3 points off of the Lions game. I thought the Steelers were going to run away with that one (they should have).

Calvin Pace on Henne: “Against a second-year clown quarterback, we didn’t affect him enough. I guess you have to give him credit. The defense lost the game today.”
Calvin Pace on the Wildcat: “I can’t respect that stuff, all that Wildcat. We’re in the N.F.L. Don’t come here with that nonsense.”
