View Full Version : Shwayze (Official Thread)
Ok, I couldn't find a previous Official Thread so I thought I'd start one.
Ok, I really don't know what your guys' opinions are. I know a lot of people either love him or hate him. I, personally, love him. This is coming from someone who hates rap in its entirety. But, Shwayze is something different to me. Personally, I feel like the real mastermind behind Shwayze is of course Cisco Adler. Together they produce something entirely different. It's refreshing. I like the sound. The calmness of it, and the message he sends. He says it best in his new song Daze Like This. "Women and weed over bitches and guns. I ain't from the hood." I think that sums up Shwayze and why I like him.
He has a new album coming out on November 3 entitled Let It Beat.
So, Discuss.

I like some of their stuff (I say they because I was under the assumption that although the rapper refers to himself as Shwayze, Shwayze is also the name of the project or group as a whole. It's not Shwayze feat. Cisco Adler, it's just Shwayze.), but I'm not sure I agree that they send a good message. All of their songs are either about drugs and getting high or girls. I see where you're coming from and agree that it's nice to see a rapper who doesn't rap about violence and how gangster they are, but I don't think the absence of that automatically makes for a good message.

They are playing at my school this weekend with GCH. I'll probably go, but I'm not looking forward to it.

Then don't go?
I'm not a huge fan, but I love how simple and laid back all of his songs are. Sometimes they're boring, but they are extremely fitting to just sit back and hang out to.

I agree about referring to them as "they," since Cisco is the genius behind the music. I also see where you're coming from on the topic of his message. But, it's an improvement, I guess you could say.

Have you heard rap in it's entirety though? Because I'm sure there are about 50 very obvious rappers/rap acts that are better than him.
On a slightly unrelated note, I dated a guy who looked like Cisco Adler, but uglier.

Shwayze is the shit... they brought something new to the table. And do a great job at what they do. Shwayze himself would own half of the rappers in the game today, its just not his style. cant wait for let it be.

Not really digging the new album. Seems "generic". Couple good songs but not nearly as good as the other one.

Have you even heard the new album yet? Come on a song with Snoop Dogg. It's turned more into hip hop than what it was before which kinda was like it's own genre. Get U Home is one of my favourite songs over the last couple years so I'll give em that. Just the new songs aren't as chill before...

I somewhat agree on the songs not be as chill as before, but there are a few that are really good.
I'm gonna disagree with it being generic. It's far from generic in my opinion. One of the few rappers that strays away from talking about "the hood" and the use of the n word. Something that I really admire. (Even though Snoop dropped it in Livin It Up.)
Anyways, I personally love the new album. Though it isn't "as chill" as the previous album, Shwayze and Cisco managed to throw together a solid sophomore album. The only song that REALLY disappointed me was Wait All Night, but besides that, I went through the album with a smile on my face.
Here's my track rankings.
1. Heart And Soul
2. Crazy For You
3. Daze Like This
4. Down At The Motel
5. Livin' It Up
6. Make A Lil' Love
7. Sally Is A...
8. Perfect For Me
9. Dirty Little Girl
10. Get U Home
11. Maneatrr
12. Wait All Night
Just my personal opinion on it. Overall, I'd give it an 7/10. I'd give the last one a 9/10.

I listened to the album 4-5 more times since I made my past comment. Generic wasn't the right word. It's not particularly a bad album, I just don't like it as much as the old one. I agree, the last one was def 9/10 and this one I would agree would be 6/10-7/10. I was just dissapointed that this one was as "chill' and seemed to have a lot more going on. I liked the old one because there wasn't a ton of instruments and beats and soundeffects going on. Anyway still better than 90% of what's out there now... If you guys haven't listened yet, I'd give it a listen.
Just noticed your track ranking, here are my favs:
1. Get U Home <--- Love, Love, Love this song
2. Dirty Little Girl
3. Maneatrrr<----Really Digging the Chorus not so much the rest.
4. Sally Is A...
5. Crazy For You<---Reminds me of something from the other album
BTW if you haven't got the Rich Girls mixtape it's like a cross between the old album and this album so dl it.
