It seems (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1531839/20060516/index.jhtml?headlines=true.) that senior pranks these days call for dozens of cops with their guns drawn and helicopters overhead.

the hs i went to had an enclosed courtyard. and the senior class the year after mine one night crawled over one of the parts of the school to get to it and released chickens into the courtyard. and the next morning the principle had to get them out. proof i grew up in nowhere nc. but funny.

eh, what do you expect? after columbine, many schools are on a hair-trigger threshold for putting up with this kind of shit. it says in the article that '3 dozen black clad figures roaming the school grounds' , dude, who wouldnt that freak out? this wasnt a few kids pulling a prank, it was a few dozen kids wearing all black. any teacher in this day and age is going to assume the worst and call the cops, and the cops are going to assume the worst too. dont get me wrong, i'm all for school pranks that dont permanently damage anything, and i can't stand cops, but seriously, ever since columbine, you have to be an idiot to try to pull anything like this. people are paranoid. the innocense of the school prank died 4/20/99.

If I was still in highschool, my highschool prank would be totally re-enacting Braveheart's most famous scene. Complete with facepaint. Ah, the benefits of an all-boys school.

regardless of weather columbine happened or not, this was huge overkill... especially because the principal knew it was the prankers (if you read the story), sure a bunch of kids dressed in black might freak some people out but surely the teachers noticed that "3 dozen" kids were missing from their classes and put 2 and 2 together. seriously... helicopters... what the fuck is a helicopter going to do in a school shooting situation anyway, especially right at the beginning. i'm so glad i don't live in the fukin states

This is fucking nothing. 3 weeks ago I was involved in a senior prank of epic proportions.

This is not the half of it. We found an entrance into the school's boiler room via an underfuckingground tunnel. We made an attempt to plug up the main door locks with JB weld in hopes of faculty not being able to enter the building the next day. And baby oil was spread. Everywhere.

wow, that's fucked up. At least the principal getting hurt isn't cool.

But I think the police and helicopters are a bit too excessive. Especially for such a mediocre prank.

14 of us are facing 2 misdemeanor charges and nearly 800$ a person in restitution. There were also 26 cops involved as well as the k9 unit. Guns were also drawn.

Don't be ignorant. That could happen anywhere, it's not just possible in the US. That's a call that dealt with being an asshole not our country's policy. Don't relate an entire country to one school run by one man.

fearthesloths
05/17/06, 09:10 AM
i know it could happen anywhere, clearly im not that ignorant. but the US is the most likely place for that to happen because of all the paranoia surrounding your country. Our school pranks were way worse then that, and so were all of the ones that happened in all of the schools in the area... and the police were rarely ever even called afterwares ... let alone cops with guns drawn and a helicopter.... and you wonder why people in other countries think this way about the US??

yea, the helicopter is major overkill. do you know how much gas it takes to fly a helicopter? Its like a gallon a minute. and who payed to fuel up that baby? joe taxpayer. i'd be pissed. thats fucked up, its a waste of manpower and taxpayer money. although it does teach those dumbass kids a lesson.

surely the teachers noticed that "3 dozen" kids were missing from their classes and put 2 and 2 together.

If you read the article, you would have noticed that this did not take place during school hours. No classes are administered in the middle of the night.

fair enough, i missed that. But that just lends more to the fact that it is overkill, if its in the middle of the night how the hell is columbine even comparable... no one was there. Sure property damage isn't cool but seriously... a fucking helicopter... if they just wanted to scare the shit out of a few troublemaking students just send a couple of cop cruizers over there and they'll shit themselves and bolt. There is no need for cops to come in waving their guns around and send a helicopter to sort out some friggin chocolate sauce on the windows and some toilet paper in a tree.

that's dumb. when i was a junior in hs.. i remember the seniors letting loose i think mice or something from the lab during school hours. then as a senior, when the school had a fire drill, some of stayed behind and put toothpicks in the classroom locks so they couldn't be opened when everyone returned from the drill.

nothing too dramatic, just kinda humorous.

Helecopter was excessive. Those things suck fuel at gallons per minute.

When I graduated, my school made the news too. It was such a stupid prank, too. We filled super soakers with watered down condiments and ran through the school attacking everyone in the halls. And then released chickens in the halls with crickets.
Then one of my friends went through the school smearing purple ink (the kind you buy from a magic shop that when you try to wash it off, it spreads) on railings/door knobs/any where you'd place your hands.

The school thought it was a hazordous chemical reaction or something, called the fire department, we were in lockdown. Everyone who had to purple ink on them got sent to quarentine and had to eventually strip down infront of the whole school (best part of the joke) and eventually burn their school uniforms.

My friend got arrested and sent to court, I'm pretty sure he got off though. I haven't talked to him since then hahaha

Yeah, MIT is known for those things, kids hack it all the time. One time, during a lecture class, every student in the class synchronized watches. At the same exact time, they all threw paper airplanes at the professor. He got flooded.

I think its because douchebags like you are in other countries and let your opinion be dominated by what happens with the people in power, not the people who live here. I'm sure if you talked to the majority of us you would realize that your generalizing shit.

I know my country does some really fucked up things, but other countries should really think before they blast the entire country. A lot of us have common sense here, you only look at the few dumbasses who do stupid things.

Our senior class president and vp at the school I work at had a prank where they gave out sheets that said free pizza in the main office show this sheet and get a slice for free. It made the lunch line short for them but it caused them to get impeached, no cops where called or anything so I think some people just over react.
