Below is the official press release for the 2006 Warped Tour compilation, which hits shelves on June 6th (http://www.absolutepunk.net/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=771&day=2006-6-6).
LOS ANGELES, May 17, 2006 - Every summer close to 1 million punk rockers, emo kids, hardcore fans, rudeboys (and girls) and a slew of other uncategorizable music lovers brave the heat for the Van's Warped Tour. SideOneDummy's 9th annual Warped Tour Compilation is the soundtrack to the summer, capturing the intensity and diversity of this traveling festival with 51 tracks on two discs. Ranging from fan favorites to obscure rarities and unreleased gems, the compilation kicks off with Saves the Day's "The End," and the energy doesn't let up for more than 140 minutes.
The collection features a wide variety of artists that will be playing this year's punk rock summer camp such as NOFX, Helmet, Matchbook Romance, Against Me, Motion City Soundtrack and Good Riddance. Anti-Flag, Underoath, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and the Matches contribute unreleased songs while Rise Against present an acoustic version of "Everchanging" from their debut album, "The Unraveling."
SideOneDummy Records represents their own with a handful of acts including Flogging Molly, Gogol Bordello, American Eyes, The Casualties, Bedouin Soundclash and ZOX. The Irish-punks Flogging Molly contribute "Laura," a brand new studio recording from their forthcoming DVD/ CD, "Whiskey On a Sunday." Street-punk vets The Casualties debut the title track from their forthcoming album, "Under Attack."
For those who can't make the Warped Tour this year, the compilation shows just what they will be missing. But for the million fans that go, the album serves as a reminder of that perfect summer day.
