I've heard rumors around our forum that Dustin (http://www.myspace.com/dustinkensrue) (Thrice (http://www.absolutepunk.net/thrice)) may be working on a solo album sometime in the near future.

thats not gossip. the thrice and dustin mypace pages have both had bulletins about it. hes recording it this summer and has a solo show lined up in NY and LA

"Hey Everyone.
My name is Dustin Kensrue. I sing and play guitar in a band called Thrice, and this is a little something on the side that I am starting up. There's a couple live tracks on here. The first one, temporarily named "folk" is one that I wrote. I'll hopefully be recording a record this summer, and will get it out as soon as possible.
Up until now, my manager Nick has been running the site mostly because nothing has been going on, but I'm going to start taking control now and hopefully updating blogs and such. I've been reading all the comments and am encouraged and prompted to get this thing off the ground.
There's a chance I'll be playing a couple shows in the Southwest this summer, but mostly I'll be working on getting a record done.

I think what you mean is Ursas Veritas which stands for the "bear truth." No, I didn't spell that wrong, its just a play on words. I'm not sure if it's still called that but I love the name so you've got one vote for the name here Dustin, ha. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this cause anything Dustin does i'm sure will be gold.

He is not going by Ursas Veritas anymore, just going as Dustin Kensrue. He said it was too hard for people to pronounce and it would gets confusing when he has to talk about it.
The songs on his myspace are so awesome and I'm really excited to see how this CD is going to turn out. Dustin can do no wrong.

not at all. its somethign he does on the side, when thrice isnt writing/recording/touring. therefor it is a side project.

Veritas is the name of the UK TV show host Robert Kilroys facist polictical party.
I was under the impression he was still billing his solo stuff as ursas veritas tho.
A solo album is a FORM of side project, so could still be reffered to as a side project and therefore arent really different things ;P

yeah what an egomaniac! a guy who gives thousands of dollars of his own money to charities and helps raise awareness for them. seriously, where would SSE be without Thrice? thrice helped put SSE on the map. and what an egomaniac who was going to go to uganda himself to help out with the invisible children stuff before the rebellion occurred over there. a guy who's taken the time to personally write me back on his myspace page three times just about books and stuff. yeah man, what a dick!

personally i cant wait to hear his solo stuff. i think someone could make the argument that he has one of the strongest, most versitile voices in the scene, and definitely one of the best lyricists. it'll be cool to hear what he does with that stuff outside of thrice.

And yeah, ursas veritas gets translated into bear truth, so I guess it's a play on words on both languages
