I'm not a huge fan, but If bands like this topped the charts in the US for 10 weeks like in England, the music scene as a whole probably wouldnt be so shitty... I'd rather see this at the top of the charts then Bubba Sparxxx and Ashlee simpson

yeah they're no oasis but im a sucker for snotty british indie rock for some reason. fake tales of san fran... that song is great... i love the line where hes talking about the girl loving her boys band and they go "so all thats left, is the truth that loves not only blind but deaf"

I understand how in England the arctic monkeys are overrated but how in america are they overrated? I mean i heard they were on MTV when their first single came out but...still they arent all that known an by now since the single was released long long ago (not really but it feels like it) they arent very important. But who knows they may be popular on myspace or purevolume or something i havent looked.

dont be fooled, our music scene is sometimes not as good as it looks...we still get our fair share of shit number ones though....like pop idol "its chico time" lasted a stupidly long time.

the Arctic Monkies are very overrated...they were huge because they plugged a musical gap over here and were something a bit new, but then were over hyped and over played and now they are kind of ambling along in the background.

I saw them in a small venue about three years ago, without ever hearing them...I just went along because it was free and a friend said they were good. I thought they were really good, but then kind of forgot about them...then they resurfaced about half a year later. I didn't like them as much on cd as I did live. Lyrically I like where they're coming from, but musically I'm not that into them.

they bring out an album, nothing extremely special about it, and suddenly it's one of the best british albums of all time. If that's not overrated then fuck knows what is.
You'll see that when they release their next album, they won't be so special anymore

I love how my friend, who usually only listens to mainstream melodic stuff like Coldplay, got the Arctic Monkeys' record and was just like "It sounds really raw, but is still really good and catchy," and I was like "that's rock and roll, buddy."

i like arctic monkeys. most of their songs, anyways. and even though i don't really care for music videos, i liked the video for the view from the afternoon. the leave before the lights come on ep kind of sucks, but whatever people say i am, that's what i'm not and who the f*** are arctic monkeys? were good. some of their lyrics are really great, the music is just alright.

it's kind of weird, it sounds like in the uk everyone is sick of them, and around my area, nobody knows who they are. it's pretty sad.

I liked their debut a lot and the second album had some pretty great songs but a lot of it was meh. My favorite song of theirs is the non album single Leave Before the Lights Come On. They're clearly a step above a lot of the typical british hype bands.

Have you listened to the side project Last Shadow Puppets at all? They're a lot more interesting than Arctic Monkeys. My Mistakes Were Made For You and Standing Next to Me are some pretty neat songs. I love the James Bond soundtrack vibe.
