Dawson's Creek did that and turned awful because of it. 90210 had everyone going to the same college and had more people in their core group which gave them more room to work with from a writing standpoint. No teen show will ever top it and its best seasons were when they were in college and each college year progressively got better.

That was a good episode in comparison to the rest of the season. No less, Marissa dying is the best thing to happen to the show. Maybe I'll start watching it because I basically considered her to be the root of every bad story line, besides the story line with Kirsten drinking. I was cheering when the car flipped. It was badass. Kinda sucks though, they've turned Seth into a joke now and Ryan somehow appears to be more moody than first and second seasons. I refuse to think that it's possible one person can be so damn gloomy. No less, bravo OC to ending a crap season in style. Maybe I'll even watch the 15 episodes I missed now. Schwartz targeted the centerpoint for the problems in the show and then killed her dead! Hooray Schwartz!

I'm not sure why some people are so upset by her character being killed. Pretty obvious that her acting was shit and her character was too much of an idiot to even have sympathy for. And they're giving Seth more comedic lines which is a throwback to the first season and a good thing.
