Now, the Titans are planning on installing a "Vince Young Package," one that would include the option and force opposing defenses to have to prepare for more than just Tennesee's basic offensive attack.
Behind the scenes, Titans coaches already have begun sifting through some of the various option options, pondering which to include for Young.
It would not be a difficult offense for Young to learn. At Texas, Young ran the "option read," in which he would watch the defensive end, then decide whether to hand the football to his running back or carry it himself. It is how he transformed himself into college football's most dangerous quarterback.
the NFL better get ready

it will never work in the NFL, the first time one of those linebackers lay into Young who decides to keep it on the option, that's the end of Vince Young

there's a reason there's not much of an option in the nfl. it can be used as a gimmick to get a team off guard, but it's a package that they can prepare for it will be over for vince young.

an option offense does not work in the nfl.

i can't wait to see vince young try the option and get laid out by ray lewis.
defenses are too fast to fall for crap like that in the pros

He won't get laid out by Ray Lewis, he'd get laid out by someone else and Ray Lewis would jump on top of the pile and take credit for the tackle.

yeah, let's see him read Dwight Freeney and then vince keeps the ball and Freeney still chases crushes him for a 1 yard gain. This dude is a bust already. I feel bad for the tennessee fans having to defend their management foregoing the obvious pick of matt leinart.

he wouldn't even get by Dwight Freeney, let alone, make it to the LB's.

The Option will NEVER work in the NFL. You're playing mediocre LB's in college..and the best of the best in the NFL. He's gonna get rocked. I can't wait.

this doesn't work with michael vick, who is tons faster than vince young.

Mike Vick is the best at the NFL Option playbook..and he almost gets hurt every single time he runs. How many times has he been flipped 360 degrees into the end zone by a saftey?

also, id like to point out that this speaks BOUNDS about the confidence the TENN coaching staff has in him to not even TRY to run a real offense.

Well, his mechanics are weak...so I gues trying to get him out to use his agility and quickness while he is still young isn't a bad idea...but he can only do this for 4-5 years before he'll need to actually be a real quarterback

so, after all the time spent evaluating him, watching film, doing interviews, and watching him work out, they still felt he was worth using the third overall pick with.
but now, it's taken less than a week of minicamp to realize that he can't take a snap from center, he can't make more than two extremely quick reads, he doesn't have the patience to make more reads than that and relies on his legs too much, and that even if he does make the read his throwing motion doesn't put enough velocity on the ball to get past nfl defenders and his release makes his throws easily blockable by nfl defensive linemen and that he's too much of a project to be able to expect any amount of productivity out of him within three years?
good work titans. now try to cover up your goof by trying to make us believe you're going to institute an offense that's been proven not to work at this level.

good, it's about time that they try to impliment an offence around what the quaterback is good at.

except for the fact that this kid is half as good as michael vick, and he can't even run the fucking option in the nfl. and he runs laps around vince young.
basically this is them saying "we're making a new offense and we can blame him being bad on that. please don't hate us for not taking matt leinart, the obvious pick."

That's really a terrible idea actually...i mean they make playbooks so that the quarterback can maximize effeciency, but to try to mold an offense entirely that way is kind of foolish.
I mean, some of the best NFL running backs can't get 100 yards a game against the defenses, trying to add a slower quarterback into that system isnt' going to make it more efficient. And another key to an option attack would be having a legitimate deep threat, otherwise CB's and Safeties will creep up, and Vince's mechanics hinder that a great deal. Did you see him in the skills challenge, his long throw attempts all were 5-10 yards outside the 20yd x 10yd area they gave them to throw into...while the other QB's hit it with at least 2 of their 3 throws. He doesn't have the accuracy to be a great QB, and it will show.
Moreover, if he is a franchise QB...what happens when he loses his speed at 30 (if not sooner from the beating)? When he can't run the option, what is he going to do, throw the ball?

especially with his former offensive coordinator already there...the man who could maximize his talents as seen.
USC didn't run the option that I saw...so I'm not sure how good Norm is with it...
I mean, Cutler, Leinart, any pocket passer was really what they needed

not to mention, you spend all that time and energy installing this brand new ridiculous offense, then young gets hurt.
volek running an option offense makes me giggle inside.

volek being 100x better than the 3rd pick overall, and 1st QB taken in the draft, will ever be in the NFL, makes me laugh.

dont hate on volek, he is probably the best backup in the league. The other great backup also happens to backup an overrated running quarterback. Matt Schaub should get a chance to start. Instead he has to watch micheal vick have mediocre game after mediocre game while the falcons d wins the game for him.

yes, but my statement wasn't hating on volek. it's hating on young. go ahead and re-read it.

sorry, wasnt sure if you meant that it was laughable that someone as bad as volek will still be better than young. But obviously you just meant to state that young will suck ass in the pros...i agree

Young was Reese's choice but they picked up White to satisfy Chow
Mario Williams will be a bust
I do not believe he will be a star but i believe he will be a solid player. People are less likely to think of defensive players as busts because people don't really notice when a defensive player (especially lineman and linebackers) has a bad game. But if a qb has a bad game, everyone knows it and he has to take the blame.
Take ray lewis for example (i use him because i hate him, he is a dirty criminal, and is a little bitch because apparantly his style is to let someone else on his team clear away all the blockers so he can go one on one with the ball carrier, if that doesnt happen he bitches about having no help). Anyway, if he has a bad game you won't notice because there are other defensive players who make tackles. Plus the defense will be blamed as a whole. If the offense stalls though, the blame will go solely on the quarterback, or sometimes the running back. Defensive players can coast by a little easier.

This is exactly what needed to be done for Young to be successful in the NFL. Any normal offensive system would have him flop out, without doubt.

Mario Williams will be a bust
Finally. Someone else see's the fucking light. Mario Williams is the next Courtney Brown. this talk of the analysts calling him the next julius peppers is ridiculous. He didn't dominate mediocre OT's until the second half of his senior year. Dude's a fucking bust, too. Normally, vince young being a bust would overshadow mario williams, but he'll be remembered for being a bust simply because he was taken instead of Reggie Bush.

The best thing for Vince Young would be to switch to WR. that's the only way for him to be successful in the NFL.
