View Full Version : new Eels album "End Times "out January 19th
I submitted this as news but it didn't make the front page, so here :)

Eels (http://www.nme.com/artists/eels) are to release a new album on January 18.
The record, 'End Times', follows hot on the heels of 'Hombre Lobo', which was released in June.
The new record features 14 "largely self-recorded" tracks made by Eels (http://www.nme.com/artists/eels) frontman E, real name Mark Oliver Everett, in his basement studio at his Los Angeles home.
The six-month gap between 'Hombre Lobo' and 'End Times' is the shortest ever gap between Eels (http://www.nme.com/artists/eels) albums. It’s in marked contrast to the four-year break between the former album and 'Blinking Lights And Other Revelations'.
the article says 18th but 19th is a tuesday....

album cover and tracklist revealed:

i have an old live version of "nowadays" and i just listened to it now that i know it's on the album.... this song has more harmonica than most eels songs, sounds kind of neil young-ish without outright sounding like him. but then again this is several years old and it has probably changed a little ever since, although the main backbone of the song probably hasn't
also i just wanted to say that the titles of the songs seem so much more interesting than the titles on hombre lobo for some reason. i know that's a very odd way to pre-judge an album, but i think this one is shaping up to be better even though none of us here have heard a single completed studio note of it

That look you give that guy
I wanna see
Lookin' right at me
If I could be that guy instead of me
I'd never let you down
It's like he holed up in a cabin and listened to Dashboard for months prior to recording.

haha Yeah, not a whole lot of maturity or substance to be found on that record.

I'd rather hear him sing about how horny he is for 12 songs like on Lilac Breeze. It's too late in the game to expect another Electro-Shock Blues.

haha Haven't explored his earlier material. Which of it would be worth my time?

The aforementioned Electro-Shock Blues (which I wrote a Retrospectacular about :-)) and Blinking Lights... although be warned, it's a double album.
