I know it's cheating, but Louder Than Bombs. Despite being a collection of b-sides, it's the most well-rounded "album" they've released. It has a surprising cohesion to it. Asleep is a perfect album ender.

I like The Queen Is Dead best... I guess because it has my favorite songs on it. Frankly, Mr. Shankly and Bigmouth Strikes Again specifically.

The Queen is Dead by a country mile. Everything else is fantastic don't get me wrong, but TGID is incredible.

My personal favorite is the self titled, but The Queen Is Dead is by far their best full length.

Self-Titled, for me

Cemetry Gates, There is a Light..., Frankly Mr. Shankly, Bigmouth. Just those 4 songs alone make this poll unnecessary.

I don't get the hate for Meat is Murder...i thought it had some quality song like How Soon Is Now?/Barbarism Begins at Home/The Headmaster Ritual and Rusholme Ruffians

It's pretty much a sure thing TQID will win this. My favourite is the self titled though, Reel Around The Fountain is still probably my favourite Smiths song.

I couldn't agree more with this post. If there were stricter rules or something I'd say the self-titled, maybe because I'm taking nostalgia of purchasing it/being the first record by the band I bought and sat and listened to death but I think it's also an album containing a great selection of songs, mainly for this, which I still hold as one of the coolest sounding guitar riffs ever:

But, on the whole, Louder Than Bombs is such a well rounded album with a brilliant collection of songs.

despite being pretty new to The Smiths (finally went through their back catalogue for the most part), and I'd have to say The Queen Is Dead, closely followed by their self-titled. never listened to Louder Than Bombs
