godspeed you! black emperor > explosions in the sky
godspeed have much more dynamic routes through out there songs,
and seriously who can make a thirty min. song not boring.
past that check: set fire to flames, a silver mount zion, and hrsta.
lately for me it has been: sigur ros, mum and the dead texan
ps good call on the good life, black out is probably my favorite pick up as of recently

Try Norah Jones, although I must say that the Death Cab suggestion is really good. Benny Goodman is also really good. The instrumental let's you really lets your mind wander and drift into sleep.
