The way I see it every year is a good year for music. I may be let down by a couple of bands, but some may have really surpised me and made up from those letdowns. As for this year there were more letdowns...but as long as some bands really put forth all their effort and make an amazing cd...then I can't completely say the whole year was a letdown.

I was into the ADTR cd for a good month and then got very bored...but besides that, new ETID, new SYG, new NFG, new DGD, Transit's EP, new TDWP, new Chariot, new HORSE

There was probably more I'm forgetting but I had a lot of new music that did not disappoint this year.

It seems like nearly all of my favorite bands put out cds: Thrice, Brand New, ETID, He Is Legend, Mars Volta, mewithoutYou, Relient K, Russian Circles, The Sleeping, Thursday, Emery. Plus so many surprising improvements: The Devil Wears Prada, Inhale Exhale, Silverstein, Maylene, Oh Sleeper, Set Your Goals. And there's still more potential: The Almost, Say Anything, BTBAM, Flyleaf (maybe?), Switchfoot. While not totally let down, I wasn't as satisfied as I could've been with the Fall of Troy. Lovehatehero was a total letdown.

arg, none of those are true. the new afi was great, it was just a different style than their previous effort (which was my AOTY in 2005), also, the new NFG actually got me into NFG so i dont really think of it as being overrated. and come on, atreyu isnt that bad, it may be a lil cheesy but they have put out some solid songs

Year isn't over yet, there are still a couple of things I'm looking forward to, so I'm not going to write it up as a disappointment yet.

Great Albums like Daisy, When I Hit The Ground, Armistice, Mean Everything To Nothing, and Reach For the Sun as well as upcoming albums/ albums I haven't picked up yet such as Say Anything, The Positives, Beggars, Aim and Ignite, Felt, Alter the Ending, Height and hopefully Daybreak make for a great year in Music IMO.

Big big letdown. Paramore, The Used, Sherwood, and Taking Back Sunday all made below average albums, imo. The only goodness from 2009 was the new NFG album, the new Silverstein album, and discovering Owl City.

A Day to Remember put out Homesick, and I got to see them on tour for it.
Meg & Dia put out Here, Here, and Here and got to see them live
Got to see Innerpartysystem

Good year, for sure. Not 2004 good, but good. Loving the new Green Day, Manchester Orchestra, Brand New, Thursday, Lucero, Animal Collective, Mew, Modest Mouse, even Saosin. lately I've been getting into the new Flaming Lips, as well as some Grinspoon, Lisa Mitchell. Sonic Youth, Propaghandi and even Anti Flag and NOFX put out good albums as well. Can't complain about that.
