Since there was a thread for the Mets and Phillies, there should be one for this series also. I see the sox winning the first 2 games since the pitching match-ups favor them, the third game will come down which starter sucks less and the bullpens.

but seriously, i also see 2 out of 3 for the sox. i think the first two games bode well for the sox, but i think randy actually rebounds a little and gets the W on Wednesday.
Anything less than 2 out of 3 is a big loss for the Sox because they need to kick the Yankees while they are done. Who knows how long this current slump will last.

hopefully we get a rational yankee fan or two in here tonight so it doesnt turn on to a bunch of us jerking off to the sox or cutting our wrists, depending on the outcome.

If he doesnt give up the long ball and can avoid that one bad inning that has killed him his last 2 starts he'll be fine, but those are some big ifs based recent starts

true. Im gonna probably miss most of the game from the 3rd inning on due to the season finale of 24, im hoping the score is like 8-0 by that point though

man, this inning is fucking tough for the yankees. wang was doing pretty well up until this point. since matsui went down, i'm crediting the majority of these losses to the team's poor as fuck starting pitching and injured outfield. i swear to god, this injury bug is fucking killing the team.

yeah, i'm not defending him. i meant the hanging breaking ball comment as a criticism ...i like dougie for what he does behind the plate, but there's a reason he isnt a full-time starting catcher (can't hit the side of a barn most of the time).

ya, it was the same pitch Cora hit into right field. It looked like Tek was trying to put to much of an upper cut swing to lift it, but instead popped it up. Still, for just coming into the game, I would of taken a few pitches. Then again, Tek has a knack for swinging at junk balls in the dirt with two strikes.

if you watch the replays of both hits, you can tell manny knew it was out of there. he stood for a good 10 seconds and watched it go to the center field seats before he even THOUGHT about running, as where arod mistook his homer for a fly ball behind the catcher and ran it out before running the bases.

Red Sox need to win this game tonight, Johnson has been sucking and the Sox should clobber him. And the Yankees lineup looks pretty weak without damona and posada
Cabrera, RF
Jeter, SS
Sheffield, DH
Giambi, 1B
Rodriguez, 3B
Cano, 2B
Williams, CF
Long, LF
Stinnett, C
yes, the yankees are playing with a depleted line up and an even more depleted starting rotation. i give them any amount of credit for being this close in the race. and the sox dont NEED to win this game, they SHOULD win this game. johnson has been HORRIBLE.

they need to win it because look at who the yankees are putting out there. Johnson has been terrible and there line up is a joke compared to what it could be

Me too. To be honest I expected Red Sox to win all 3 games. In fact with the injuries the Yankees had, they were kind of must-win games.

one play where he has to go into the hole qualifies him as a gold glove caliber SS? Sign Manny up for left field then.
Derek Jeter UZR: -28.

exactly. dude is a hell of a baseball player ...but its because of his bat. the notion that he's a gold glove SS is why many people consider him to be overrated (not saying me, just those who do).

Definitely, I think people just need to be more careful about how they word their accolades with Jeter. He's a great player/teammate, no doubt. Granted, some of his plays are exciting because his range is limited, he's still an exciting guy to watch. I think any team would be happy to have him somewhere in the lineup.
I'm not saying he's the most amazing short stop ever. I can pretty much agree with everything said thus far. My point was for to the people who are like "Jeter sucks, he's overrated, doesn't deserve his gold glove, yadda yadda yadda" none of which are currently posting in this thread. So I guess I'm preaching to the choir. I never said anything about his range, I noted that he made a great play that a lot of people didn't expect. That's all. I forgot that we get overflowed with drama anytime anyone says anything in the Yankees favor.
