yeah i like these guys a lot. i liked most of sunny day's stuff, and i like some of anathallo's stuff. this should be some good contributions. however, i do find that granted anathallo is talented and all that, i think they are really overrated on this site. the staffers kind of recommend them all the time and push them, and i feel like ap members sometimes only say they like them cause they are "so unique" so it makes them feel unique, as if they are now set apart from the usual "cartel fans". believe me, i'm not bashing on the band itself, i just think their hype here is a little much.

we're all broken were horrible when i saw them. the show would have been so much better without them on the bill. im not even a big mewithoutyou fan, but their live show, was amazing. i have a whole new repsect for them now.

minus the bear... the singer was drinking straight whiskey during their set, thats rock & roll. does anyone else think their bass player looks somewhat like tom petty?

Honestly, before I saw that tour I hated Thursday. I was considering not even staying for their set. From the opening few second of their first song (Understanding a ...) I was hooked.

I don't even think MTB did that good of a job for their live act.

Its not a matter of being overrated. If the staff love the band which most do, of course they are going to push them. If i was on the staff id make damn sure i'd be pushing my favorite bands and so would you. I didnt know liking band because they are unique was a bad thing?? they are unique and amazing. If you dont get them then you dont get them. Even if people dont like them they ahve to agree that the musicianship of that band is amazing. The band bucks a lot of things especially song structures. There are no chorus' in most of anathallo's songs.......... You have this providence in your signature... great band but they are far from unique or as talented as anathallo. There are tons of This providence bands just look at fueled by Ramen's roster.

any hype was/is well warranted.
this band is one of the most creative/unique :O/dare i say, "catchy" bands in existent today.
go to a live show, you'll appreciate them more.

well if they tour with anathallo it will be very easy, ( the format did sort of the same thing with members of anathallo helping out songs for them on their recent tour together ) so it be pretty much the same way, lots of bands do that now that tour together. ( come out and do songs and whatnot.) but i also heard about a girl playing harp on a couple songs for mewithoutyous new effort. and their producer (Brad Wood?? i think) is a saxophane player. i know they are definatly using him.

Jeremy Enigk is absolutely on the album. that is NOT a rumor. trust me. the horns aren't significant enough that you would need them live and the song that Timbre, the harpist, plays on also doesn't really need a harp live. Those are just bells and whistles that are helping fill out ideas and sounds. it sounds pretty hot, probably their best album, but it might not be what you expect.

i totally love how no one read anything in my post except the part where i say that anathallo is over-hyped on this site. did anyone not see that i said that i enjoy anathallo, and in no way was i trying to bash them or degrade their talent and their music? wow. i was just saying that i think a lot of people on ap who claim to like anathallo, are simply giving into the hype. they are unique.. i am not even beginning to refute that, but it is the fact that they are unique that i feel people find comfort in claiming that anathallo is their fave band even if they don't necessarily like them all that much. much like how some people say "i love bright eyes" to sound "indie."

i guess i was wrong, or at least worded myself wrong, in my post... i did not mean to say that anathallo does not deserve recognition, praise, whatever for their talent, their efforts, their music. i was simply saying that i believe the ongoing hype may just come from some people who want to like a band that uses horns and interesting song structures (which goes back to my bright eyes example).
