Am I the only one who liked Da Vinci? I don't get all the hate...also, this should've been made first.

I didn't hate the movie at all.

Seeing it twice in the same weekend (once with friends, once with family) made me bored though. I'd give it probably a B or something in that range becasue it isn't as horrible as people are making it seem or picture of the year.

This movie should be great though.

Wasnt BAD but was nothing like it should have been. Way too long and dragging, took the thrill out of it

Angels & Demons? If so, the first 100 pages I remember being slow.

After that it goes incredibly fast.

this will make a sweet movie. just think what the can do with the priest hanging in the middle of the church burning to death. haha that scene has the potential to be awesome

I'm looking forward to seeing the Da Vinci code. And from what I've heard about Angels & Demons I think it will be good.

theres just no reason that it should be on the bestseller's list for years in a row. its not well-written at all

haha the Vatican isn't going to let the Camera crew within range of St. Peters square at all. They are going to need to make a damn good fake set.

This better be good. I hated The Da Vinci Code, and I prefer this book over the other. I like the casting of Ewan McGregor. Good call.

saw this last night.

really disappointed about it. they changed quite a bit from the book. i knew they would change some stuff like they did with the da vinci code, but the changes they made were pretty huge and wasn't nearly as interesting as the book was.

i thought the movie was pretty decent. better than the davinci code movie. i read the book like 2 years ago so i don't remember all the details of what was left out, i could only a couple things, mostly at the start of the movie, that in the end (and in a movie like this) didn't seem that big of a deal when all is said and done.

I have been eagerly anticipating this for a few years and it didn't disappoint, but a few things:

1. I thought Langdon jumped on the helicopter with the Camerlango as well, and landed in a river after he jumped out?
2. uh, no Kohler mention?

I didn't read the book, so maybe my opinion shouldn't be taken much serious... But I didn't like the movie. At all. I'm a pretty big fan of everything conspiracy related, I love to read and discuss religious stuff, I was always fascinated by ambigrams, and I liked Da Vinci Code and Deception Point - the only books by Dan Brown that I've read so far. I was pretty sure I was gonna at least enjoy it, but no. Terrible, imo.

I for one am fucking glad they cut out the Langdon jumping into the fountain / pool bullshit, that was the most ridiculous thing in the whole book and would have looked like the biggest joke ever on screen.

On the flipside, getting rid of the Illuminati Diamond made me quite sad, I was stoked to see it the whole movie. Oh well

saysmydoctor
05/17/09, 07:36 PM
That's bullshit, those changes. Kohler was vital to the whole fucking plot of the book. This is one of those books that has a very certain plot and it's perfect for on-screen adaptation. I can't believe they removed Kohler. I can understand minor tweaks to keep the flow of the movie, but removing Kohler is fucking dumb.

This too? Yeah, pass on this movie. These changes are pretty ridiculous and make no sense.

Blah blah blah complain complain complain. the movie was good. They changed shit like every movie adaptation ever, big whoop. The movie still made total sense, was still thrilling, still discussed all the historical and conspiracy shit, and got the message of the book/story across.

05/17/09, 07:47 PM
And I settled with that in the Da Vinci Code. The changes made in the movie made sense and helped the plot move forward on screen.

The fountain scene, I can understand adjusting...him jumping from the copter, etc, understandable. But removing characters like Kohler, that's huge, honestly. The Illuminati Diamond was the major theme and mechanic of the book---all the elements combined--I don't understand that removal.

Granted, I haven't even seen the movie, so maybe I'm jumping the gun. But those are huge turnoffs to me.

I've never read the book and the movie flowed perfectly from what I could tell. Every bad review I see of this movie is because "it didn't copy and paste lines from the book to the screen".

Not nearly as bad as I was expecting. 6/10. Fortunately I can't remember much of the details of the book anymore. Point remains though that despite being a great actor, Hanks is not right for this role and Ron Howard can't direct this type of film nearly as well as others.

Why Bother?

I don't understand why they made up a bishop when they could have stuck with the original Kohler/Richter thing.
