I don't have a 360, but get COD2. I'm not big on war games, but this game is the shit.

Is it better than PD? I wanna know how that game is. I loved PD on N64.

Im actually thinking, maybe not a shooter game. Since Ill have Halo 2 to occupy that time I'm sure. Id prob end up playing that more than any other shooting games.

I've played PD, and it was ok, but felt mostly like a throwaway FPS. Nothing too original. And very little replay value.

Burnout Revenge has a really good online mode and single player mode.
Oblivion is good but only has downloadable content as far as XBL stuff goes.
I like Fight Night. It looks great, plays great, and is decent online.
Far Cry Instincts and Battlefield: Modern Combat are both fun online. But I dunno if you would care for them if you're getting Halo 2.
Also, I would suggest picking up Microsoft Point cards unless you are going to be using a credit card to buy them straight from the dashboard. This way you can download picture packs, themes, and games from the Arcade.

Also, there are a lot of demos on XBox Live as well, for a lot of the games, so if you don't feel like rushing into any purchases, you can check out the demos first.

i've got oblivion, amped 3, and fight night round 3.
oblivion is awesome but not for everyone.
amped 3 is pretty good and has some pretty funny/odd cutscenes, but won't blow you away.
fight night kicks ass as far as i'm concerned but then again i love boxing.
i hear ghost recon advanced warfighter and call of duty are both really good but i wasn't really that into call of duty for some reason.
if you can dowload games geometry wars, that marble game, and i hear uno are good deals.

Right now I'm thinking about Oblivion and maybe just renting burnout or trying the demo first. Since Ill have Halo 2 which will dominate my life again I know it.

Fight Night 3 looks incredible and is a good multiplayer game
Ghost Recon has a really good single player mode and is pretty fun online too
I had Oblivion for a while, and it was cool and all, but it just wasn't my type of game.
The new Table Tennis game is a lot of fun (especially for $39)
Like someone else said, be sure to check out the demos. That's one of the best ways to judge the games before buying them.

If you hook up your xbox though the computer you can play free on xbconnect.
Oblivion = Best game I have ever played.
You have to give it time though.

Erm google xbconnect it's a software that makes your xbox think that you're system linking instead of going online. But you're xbox needs to be close to the computer or you need a really long ethernet cable or if you have a wireless router thats better but a bitch to setup.
But yeh you can play people or mates online for free.
it's worldwide lan basically.

but do you still get the features of xbox live?
get gears of war when that comes out. that game looks amazing
XBConnect sucks balls unless you're lucky. You can play using a dial-up connection on it, which causes lag.
And no, it's nothing like Xbox Live.
