Really quite a statement based on the fact that they have only released one ep with a different singer.
That kinda bothers me when bands like vendetta red worked their asses off with a slew of full lengths and got nowhere near this amount of recognition.

The one Saosin EP > Everything Vendetta Red has done to date.
Although the newer shit is a huge disapointment.

I kind of thought it was overproduced pseudo-goth pop fodder. Reminded me way too much of the Used to be taken seriously.
I will admit, however, that I rock "Silhouette Serenade" from time to time. ..that tune had hit written all over it.

Yeah, I kind of think Saosin is overproduced psuedo-metal screamo fodder. There was a time where I really enojyed the EP, but I grew out of it rather quickly and it's a thing of the past now. It's hard to compare a band who released 25+ songs to a band that has released 7 and changed vocalists.

I wasn't comparing the two, and yes, it is an irrelevant parallel.
Saosin had destroyed all my faith, but that Sleepers demo sounds sick, so maybe I won't write them off just yet. Either way, they are going to be massive.

The drummer in the band now (and the one you've seen live) isn't the one that plays on the EP. Pat, Slayer's drum tech, was the one who played on the EP and was hired strictly as a studio drummer. Then the band picked up Alex (the one they have now).

i'm glad he has some time in his schedule next year.
but i think this shows capitol has some faith that it will be good. though i dont think anyone should trust their definition of 'good', or anyone's elses definition either. we'll just have to see. i forsee myself being disappointed. that ep was magic. it won't happen again.

Besides the fact that Pat tracked the EP and not alex, it was also so heavily edited, beat doctored and sound replaced that it sounds like a drum machine. It sounds wicked good cuz it's basically inhuman. Not the playing, but the dynamics and levels.

wow how can any of you say that the saosin CD is going to suck!! saosin is one of the best bands out there! they are soo amazing! the drumer included, i was just talking with a friend of mine and we dicided that the drumer from saosin and the drummer from the bled are the best drummers out there! this CD is going to pown all! so say they saosin suck just shows how musical ignorant you all are, sao is one of the most technical bands out there! you are all dum! im going to go listen to saosin right now! Chris from RXB is better than this guy
he should be your super-group drummer
It depends what style of music you're talking about. I think Pat/Alex have much faster feet and double bass skills than Chris of Rx Bandits and I think Chris is much better at more technical stuff and playing in mixed meters. For rock/metal I'd have to go with Pat/Alex and for the more technical stuff like ska/jazz/blues I'd have to go with Chris.

This is kind of unrelated, but what's the difference between Chris Lord Alge and Tom Lord Alge? Beau should just produce this on his own. I think Saosin jumping ship to a major too quickly will mean much less artistic and creative control over what they'll sound like.

they are brothers. Chris is the older one. Both are considered to be 2 of the best mixers in the US(possibly world?). They are big bucks and really know their shit. They are also really good with rock bands. To have the artist produce their own material sometimes doesn't allow for the full potential of the band to come out. So having a producer is usually a good thing. Sometimes however it doesn't work very well(the whole too many cooks in the kitchen concept). Bringing in Howard Benson and others probably was a label choice. They usually want a "hit" producer to help with the single(or 2 songs or so) to make sure all the money they invested into the band will pay off through cd sales.

I guess I'm one of the few people that are excited for it...
both of the lord-alages (chris and tom) destroy fine records. they compress everything to piss and scoop out all the mids. i fucking hate their mixes.
well when saosin gets on trl in the next year and is #2 next to avenged sevenfold, mcr and the rest of the gang, we'll see everyone hate on them. im calling it now.

I was excited for this forthcoming album at one point...but 5 songs can only hold someone over for so long. Waiting three+ years kind of kills most of the hype/excitement and I sort of stopped caring a year and a half ago. I'm really curious to see how it sells.

See Chris Walla and DCFC, they're on a major and he still produced Plans, they didn't get a huge producer. Honestly, Beau did FFTL redone version of My Teenage...and Name Taken's Hold On cd, as much as I don't like FFTL I think he could have produced Saosin's cd too without getting a major producer as I think the debt in and of itself will be this band's downfall as they're going to have to sell a shitload of copies just to break even, and in this day in age 150K sales of an album gets you dropped. I think Saosin is just really shooting themselves in the foot.

2 very different styles of music, cannot compare. As far as personal tastes go, Saosin is my favorite band, and from what I've seen develope beyond the Cap. demos and how cove is maturing, the CD hopefully should blow the market away
its so sucky bands he worked with. green day, omg

Is Anthony coming back to sing? Cause thats the only thing that will save this record.
Seriously though, Saosin is not Saosin anymore. Translating the Name is #1 on my all time favorites, and i only like four of the tracks. I think Cove with the band isn't bad but just not my taste. It's a different sound. Anthony's vocals (like he does with every other band he's in) fills the music with such passion. I will still buy this CD but i'm going to have to COMPLETELY forget Translating the Name was so incredible, and thats impossible to do.
