Frank Giaramita

One of our forum users (TheByrus) posted an RIAA interview/article in our forums and I think it's a pretty interesting read. Check it out here (http://news.com.com/2008-1027_3-6076669.html?part=rss&tag=6076669&subj=news).
Question: Do your view your lawsuits, even ones where you sued a 12-year-old girl or a Boston grandmother, as a success overall?
Sherman: Yes. We're feeling pretty good.

Bainwol: Digital sales are rising at a value that is larger than the decline in physical sales.
Hmm, the've been saying the opposite for a while now
Kerry called, he wants his flip-flop back.

yeah...well now I think they want to feign progress...whether it be real or not, so that they can show some purpose to their work. Because, the backlash has been rough, and if they aren't doing anything in terms of progress, they will be crucified

you didn't even capture the best part:
Yes. We're feeling pretty good. There will be the opportunity for business models that are consistent with P2P networks (such as demo versions or low quality). There have been a lot of conversations recently about ad-supported models.
his full answer doesn't even have anything to do with the question wahahahha, what a tool

i imagine the question was posed without that '12 year old girl' and 'grandmother' part...it seems like it was added in later, and it makes his answer seem a lot more heartless.

the thing thats always pissed me off is this:
Sherman: DRM has just gotten a bad rap based on this notion that it's going to restrict consumer choice.
Bainwol: It's a proxy for an almost ideological fight on fair use.
"fair use" fair use is us paying 13 dollars for a cd, in which most of it goes to the label.
basically we're getting screwed, paying lots of money for music, and the artists we support arent being compensated 'Fairly' if the labels are benefitting, which they would be..., then its fair use?
they sure love apple + itunes

You conviently edit that so it looks slanted, so that in the reply instead of them focusing on detering people who steal music you pull a typical liberal trick of taking the statement out of context to argue the point youre trying to make.
I didnt even get thru a paragraph of that article and they start throwing around "republican administration wants to do this blah blah blah." if anyone was half informed they'd know that liberal groups want to start regulating the internet and controlling what it is we have access to and what we pay for it, because any intelligent person knows that liberals love to take successful industries that seem slanted towards business owners and run them for their own profit/agenda

The two rank among Washington's best-paid lobbyists, with a combined salary of $1.85 million in 2003.
I guess it's easy to be a heartless asshole when you're making that much money.

And pulling the typical conservative trick of implying that liberals are the only ones who spin the news is any better??

Considering that they first mention the Republican administration in the THIRD paragraph, I have a hard time believing you couldn't even get through the FIRST paragraph. I think it speaks to a larger problem that you have a problem with exaggeration at best, or at worst, a problem with reading comprehension. The latter might explain why you think liberals want to regulate the Internet.

Does anyone know what it takes to be an assassination instead of a murder? Just curious.
