Wait...if you had a choice of whether to put it down or not, why would putting it down even be an option? I thought people only put their dogs down if they were forced to by court order. Unless the victim was threatening to sue unless the dog got put down or something, but that would be really mean. Please explain, I'm just wondering...

i feel in a lot of ways though, this realization has enlightened me in a way that enables me to get to know who i truly am as a person. now that my eyes are open, over the past year ive become a million times more liberal minded than i was ever raised to be -- have just realized that its a mindset that sort of removes me from the dogma and structure and obscene attention to propriety in society which i never cared for, and in being more of my own person in a lot of ways ive found that i am a lot more comfortable with the way the world is and the way in which i participate in it.

by law, along with being 18 or older, it does. i think what you're trying to say is just because you're technically an adult, that doesnt mean you've got the maturity that is associated with it. being an adult is just a man-made line that you cross at a certain time with certain limitations and implications, but my answer to this thread was one that implied i dont have the maturity to handle what is expected of me.

Yeah that's what I meant, I just said it in zyann language, not english. But some people's definition of adulthood I've known people who were adults at 12.

I've seen way too many 18 year olds in here. You guys really consider 18 years old being an adult? Legally yeah, but I just don't categorize that as adult. I would absolutely never refer to an 18 year old as a man. I don't really think of people as adults until they're in their mid twenties.

It's a liability issue. You're absolutely right, in a way. We'd only be required to put him down if she reported it to the authorities and the sheriff knocked on our door alerting us to that depending on our area's dog laws (which is something we're investigating now). But it's also a serious issue we have to look at ourselves from the angle of what if it happens again. What if the next person decides to sue? What if there's somehow knowledge of a previous bite?

And to whoever said don't have crazy dogs - it's not that simple. Obviously. Dogs can live to 10, never bite anyone, and one day just get a bad vibe that causes them to lash out. There's a hundred different variables here.

Bills. Taxes. All of your friends going off to other colleges while you're stuck at a community college. Shitty hours at work and no job opportunities. Learning how to do things for the first time and feeling like a dumbass in public. No motivation for life. Barely making it paycheck to paycheck. Ramen meals.

Here's something i've learned as I entered College. People are really really horny. No matter how hot the girl is, if I say anything to let her know that I want to bang her, she's going to let me bang her.
I have completely lost respect for women. but I think it's a phase, I hope once I get into the working world after Law School those girls (young professions) are harder to get, because shit, i wouldnt Marry any girl from college.
I remember walking into a bar at 9pm scan for the hottest girl in the bar, of course she's with friends, walk up to her, whisper some nasty ass shit in her ear, and walk out with her. Yea it was cool, but fuck that's nasty.

Early 20's is weird, because people expect you to act a little more mature, to be an adult, to take responsibilities - yet they still treat you like a kid.

Being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up.

I was like "fuck, these are adults, they could be doing whatever the fuck they wanted; Playing Donkey Kong all day, going to Chuck E. Then you get to the age when you can do what you want and you don't really want to do shit anymore. It's sad.

that's not really it. i think most adults would want to be doing that stuff but we're just so damn broken down, poor, and exhausted from having to be an adult and work a shitty job and pay shitty bills and deal with all the horrible things that being an adult requires that we don't get to do all that stuff.

Ok, wait. I just read your last point, I have never had any inkling to shit all over the walls, that's just disgusting and crazy, but all the rest of it sounds like stuff most people would be down with doing if we had no responsibilities. too bad that isn't reality unless you're independently wealthy and can tell the rest of society to fuck off.

taxes? maybe if you have a job but very few minors have annual salaries for which they pay taxes. Taxes on clothes is not really an issue. Most minors are covered if their parents are covered. So adults not being covered results in minors not being covered. It's the adult's responsibility to obtain health insurance, not the child's.

Well, that was my point - Once you're an adult you've got too much other crap to do and worry about. Thus you become rather boring in the eyes of your old kid-self. Honestly, if 8 year old me saw me now he'd think I'm such a boring loser.

And shitting on the walls was a joke, but hey, if you really want to do it, you can. You're an adult now. Toilets are so last season.

When I was little, people were a lot easier to read. Like in kindergarten if someone liked you they'd just chase you around and be cute. Now it's this big ole questioning game for people, trying to figure out this and that.

I also miss the innocence of childhood. Everything seemed a lot more... light hearted.

I turned 21 yesterday, and it's really not that different from when I was 20, which isn't that different from when I was 18, which isn't all that different from when I was 17. Maybe I've adjusted, but I don't feel like my life is totally 100% completely drastically different from when I was younger. Maybe once I graduate from college and/or get married, whichever comes first, then that'll be a significant change, but probably not a shitty one. I think there are a lot more good things about adulthood than there are bad ones.

understandable. I think as a whole, insurance is a greater issue for adults because they're the ones responsible for getting it and maintaining it. Though you could argue back and say that it's worse for kids since they can't do anything about it (like an orphan or something).

Or for pre existing conditions when the adult can have it but the child is turned away or they have to pay a massive amount because of it.

i feel in a lot of ways though, this realization has enlightened me in a way that enables me to get to know who i truly am as a person. now that my eyes are open, over the past year ive become a million times more liberal minded than i was ever raised to be -- have just realized that its a mindset that sort of removes me from the dogma and structure and obscene attention to propriety in society which i never cared for, and in being more of my own person in a lot of ways ive found that i am a lot more comfortable with the way the world is and the way in which i participate in it.

well said. I think of these things almost constantly.

Yes, I'm 16, but I think life experiences determine when you become an adult. Legally it's 18, mentally I think it can be anywhere from 14 to never. I'm always the sane, reasonable, planning one of my friends. It sucks, but I don't feel like a kid, and I haven't for a long time.
