Annan said the coalition decision to act "created deep divisions that will need to be bridged if we are to deal effectively, not just with the aftermath in Iraq, but with other major challenges on the international agenda."
and he's right about that.

its the fact that I know that America is capable of doing right - especially in the Iraq situation -, but choose the wrong way of going about things, that bothers me. I've never said America can do no right. But they do do alot of wrong. I love America, and I want this country to gain back the honor Bush forfeited so he could satisfy his hunger for power. Its you guys, who sit around pointing the fingers at everyone but America that aren't helping the situation. Postive change starts from within oneself. If we (America) want to move towards world peace, we have to make some serious changes first (cough*get Bushmustnotgetreelected*cough).

hey- I am no fucking fan of Clinton either. How can we trust a man who betrays his own wife, and mother of his child, to care about the rest of the nation, most of whom he doesn't even know? However, some 80% of husbands will cheat on their wives, so since the majority of the men in the world could probably relate to Clinton's situation, in their hearts I bet they couldn't care less what the man did in his personal life. What's more dangerous - a blow job (an act of affection) or blowing up a country that hasn't attacked our country (an act of mass destruction) ?and every opionion given in this forum is personal. Political affiliation is personal.
and Bush makes Americans look like self-absorbed jerks. He needs to go.

where did you get 80%? From the DNC maybe?

Cosmo, actually. And I'm not a democrat.
Also:
"According to Peggy Vaughan, author of "The Monogamy Myth," first published in 1989 by Newmarket Press, re-issued in 1998 by the same publisher.
"Conservative estimates are that 60 percent of men and 40 percent of women will have an extramarital affair. These figures are even more significant when we consider the total number of marriages involved, since it's unlikely that all the men and women having affairs happen to be married to each other. If even half of the women having affairs (or 20 percent) are married to men not included in the 60 percent having affairs, then at least one partner will have an affair in approximately 80 percent of all marriages. With this many marriages affected, it's unreasonable to think affairs are due only to the failures and shortcomings of individual husbands or wives."
Note that the above assessments of the prevalence of affairs were made about a decade ago; so based on changes in society during the intervening years, the current percentage of the population who have had affairs is probably somewhat HIGHER. For instance, the continuing increase of women in the workplace and the increase of women having affairs on the Internet means that the numbers for women having affairs is probably similar to those for men—about 60%.
So:
I mixed up: its 80% of ALL marriages. But that still shows that its not just men who can relate to Clinton, its women too.

I'm talking about American Culture. The type of culture that comes from the country one lives in. For example, Americans are much more comfortable with viewing a violent movie, than a movie with sex in it. While in Europe, its the other way around. Thats just one difference. European countries are right next to each other. There arn't any oceans separating them from each other the way America is seperated. Some can go a few miles, and they find themselves in an entire different country, with entirely different way of life. Some Americans can go a few miles and they find themselves in the ocean, or in a different state. But same country, same culture. Because of the geographical situation Europeans are in, they understand and are more sensitive to the cultural differences between countries. We, on the other hand, do not, and the fact that we elected a President who will ignore the pleas of the rest of the world, and hardly visits any other countries, only further implies that we do not care to make an effort to enrich are knowledge and respect of the cultural differences between countries.
Another example of the common American ignorance: My history teacher told me that when he visited Italy once, he was standing in line, behind a fellow American, at a currency exchange. The American in front of him, when handed a few bills, asked the Italian working there if the bills were, "real money(american dollars), or Italian money." If you don't understand the ignorance of that question, especially coming from an adult, then your dumb.
PS. Everyone should read the novelette Daisy Miller. It somes up the culture lapse between America and Europe quite nicely, not excusing either continent.

Presidents job is to LISTEN to the american public not western europe.
And after what these countries said about him why would he want to visit them? Or why would they even want a visit from him?
Your story is good, but i can also say that most Europeans are just as ignorant, remimber the picture they painted of Bush being a "cowboy" just cause he was from texas, because we all know the cowboy life style is still around.
Also you cant base an opinion of the american public based on one story you didn't even see first hand, Cause if that was the case i could base my opinion of europeans on the protesters i saw on tv, and these peoples ignorance and stupidity gave all europeans a bad name.

I can see where your coming from, but 80% of the public believes we are safer, and that puts you into a very small minority.

the war made america safer, just becuase people in europe don't like it, doesn't mean they should be hostile to american students that visit their country. we did what we felt was right to make our country, and by extenstion, the world safer, it is the violent protesters that have made it dangerous to travel abroad.
