If money was an issue, which one would you go for if you wanted a amp that could play a wide variety of music (pop punk, hard rock, post-rock)?
Please specify if pedals are needed to achieve a certain tone.

I'm almost feeling kind of a neither even though I voted for the AC30. Bands like The Strokes and Coldplay play Blues Deville's. AC30's too are kind of within the lines like an indie/cleaner thing. A lot of pop/punk bands play Marshall's. You should might look into those. As well as Peavey(don't pay attention to the old guys that tell you they're no good). Tube power and preamplification alot of time isn't all that it's made out to be. Solid state amps have immediate punch and clarity. They're also not temperamental and overly heavy. -just my 2 cents

I hate fender amps. Love jazzmasters and teles though.

Brian Fallon plays the Vox, gotta go with the Vox. It depends on what you're trying to play though. Clean tones, these would work, but if you're trying to get a heavier sound, you're going to need some pedals with the vox.

Cool to see this sort of poll. I dig it.

Oh, and for the record, I voted for the blues deville. I've always liked the tone of it, and I use it with a bd-2 blues driver to get a softer version of clapton's crunch when he played with cream. Can't afford to buy more expensive pedals, so this combo does the trick.

for one, play legit vintage versions of those amps. and two if its not handwired, it prolly sucks.

We've always used a JCM800 and a Vox in the studio. Can't go wrong.

I play through a Fender DeVille, but I've played a Vox AC30 and have liked it much better. I liked the way the Vox sounded with a hollow body in particular.

AC30 for sure. Never really been a fan of Fender amps other then the twin reverb.

Both amps are poorly built with cheap parts (that is current production AC30, not including hand-wired)
