Here (http://sunonthesand.com/2010/riot-grrrl-power/)'s a piece Todd wrote about Sleater-Kinney's importance.
Sleater-Kinney are not punk. Hence they are not important.

Fucking fuck, they're fucking awesome. The end.
Seven albums and all of them good. Carrie Brownstein's blog is bitching and Weiss is still doing the damn thing with Quasi.
Fucking fuck.

I did a little write-up for The Woods under Sun on the Sand's weekly rec section.

Not randomly I don't think. I heard about them recently from someplace and felt inclined to listen. I'm assuming I should start with The Woods?

Personally, I'd start at the beginning. You can document their growth both musically and thematically. Then again, you may not like the first few records, considering it's more Punk-ish than alt rock/indie, but you might.

Yeah, there are a lot of people on here who don't appreciate good bands or have never heard of them. Shame, really.
KRS put out a lot of good stuff.

I've said it a bajillion and twelve times in this thread already, but they're wonderful. I listen to the NPR music podcast simply because of Carrie.

The Corin Tucker record is better than I expected. Really enjoyable on first listen.

Tucker described it as a middle-aged mom record. Maybe now my mom and I can bond over it. That would be neat.

i'm bored and felt like doing this just because:
the woods > all hands on the bad one > the hot rock > call the doctor > one beat > dig me out > self titled
it's all ultra-good in the end though

I liked how Carrie Brownstein documented her journey into becoming a Phish fan.
Also, this is the best song.

Bump. Anyone check out the Wild Flag album? I've been enjoying it a lot. Also got into this band only two months ago and I've been really into every album I've heard so far, especially The Woods.
