what's with all the hate for nevershoutnever on the news feed today? I feel like he's always been regarded pretty neutrally up until recently, and now it seems like he's getting a lot of flak.

I had never listened to him before today. I mean, it was only average to me, and I'm a huge pop fan, but it doesn't seem like his musical "ineptitude" warrants this much hostility.

Is there something i'm missing, here? Some kind of behind the scenes douchebaggery? Because it seems like it's almost brokencyde-level ridicule, and that just seems like overkill here.

I don't hate him for no reason. I find him and his music to be highly annoying and immature. Most major labels sign bands based on how well they can sell said artist, talent helps sell records but so does having 124107892631976573285 13-17 girl fans that visit your myspace page every day. Most of us find his smoking annoying because he seems to lit up for every promo pic like it makes him cool. Who really gives a shit if you think he can get more pussy then me, how does that make him a better artist? I really don't give a shit that his music is more popular then mine, I'd much rather have a smaller more mature fan base then have all the underage girl fans his has. And recording studios will record anyone who pays them, Abbey Road would record the sound of my dog taking a shit if I paid them to do so.

I'm pretty sure his hippie status is an act that he puts on because it's cool to be a hippie now (or at least a far amount of high school children think so now) He has Jesus listed in his influences yet I hardly see any influence of Jesus in his music, I think he threw him in there much like many bands like throw indie bands that no one has ever heard of in their influences just to gain indie "cred" only he's gaining "religious" cred. His whole image is fake and tailored to excite little girls that don't realize that he is a fake feeding off of them for his own gain. He complied in a blog about getting a record deal when he doesn't even deserve one.

Last thing I want to say, did he ever shave love into the side of his head? or was that just another thing he said he'd do to gain attention but never really got around to it.

The hate comes because people are sick of gimmick's making it big, when many others know of other bands that are much more deserving of fame and a 2 million dollar contract. No one's saying he smokes to be cool, but it's a bit ridiculous how every single photo shoot, he's smoking a cigarette. It looks like so intentional and "in your face, look how cool I am" to pose with cigarettes. And, I'm not saying for sure, but I wouldn't be shocked if he only smoked to distance himself from 13 year old girls in teal jeans and yellow tee shirts.

Also, come on man, Abbey Road and Butch Walker? You think he got that on his own? The nice thing about record labels is that they have lots of money, and can hook stuff like that up, regardless of how good/bad the artist is.

I gotta tell ya dude, the fact that you have an Asking Alexandria picture as your avatar doesn't really help your credibility. I sawNSN live, back last November and his voice was pretty much dead on. He sounded amazing all together. I've heard Asking Alexandria without all the touched up perfect production quailty recordings and they sound horrific for the most part. The singer was singing rediculously sharper than the key the instruments were in. You should really stop criticizing people with talent when you're praising a band with much less talent then who you're criticizing.
