Anyone expecting much from this?

I'd like this to be good, as the first one was fantastic. Unfortunately, I have almost no expectations for this. No Willam Dafoe, right?

There's got to be a thread for this already. First one is perfectly amusing passing entertainment that in no way warrants any kind of sequel. It will be godawful.

Nope...I think they got some hot chick to replace him

As weird as he was in the first one, he was excellent.

I loved the first one when I was in eighth grade and thought it was the greatest movie ever created :-d. I watched it recently and it was enjoyable for what it's worth, but yea a sequel will most likely suck without Defoe and Rocco.

yes they do have a hot chick replacing dafoe, storyline seems cool though. a priest is murdered so the brothers and pops, who are in ireland, head back to america and do work to find the killer. not expecting a lot, but i never get mad when a sub par sequel is made after a great movie. i just see it as new scenes.

however i have some exceptions:
i was hoping more from the seinfeld cast on this season of curb, i don't think that should have been touched. - although not a sequel it's the re-emergence of characters after gaining mass popularity
that being said i hope toy story 3 doesn't dissapoint either or else that will suck

My buddy saw the advance screening and said it wasn't too bad actually. He said they open it up for another sequel..

He did say the ending was a let down though..

Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I guess we'll have to wait and see. The first one was definitely awesome, so I'm hoping this doesn't ruin it.

Sweet Lord. If that first 5 minutes are a taste of the movie, it's just more laughable Troy Duffy bullshit.

I really liked the first one, but the acting in this is just atrocious. And no Willem Dafoe makes me sad.

the first one sucked, this will be worse. troy duffy is an asshole hack, and the movie stopped being cool once you're past your sophomore year of college and realize how fucking terrible and cliche it is.

Freshman year of college for me, but yeah, hah. I loved it in HS when I was young, dumb, and full of cum. Could not be less excited for this sequel, lol, but I'm sure my asswipe roommates are nutting.

anyone know of this is expanding past the 60-70 theaters it's opening with this weekend?

They're using the same "demand it" scheme as with Paranormal Activity, so we'll see (but doubtful)

I remember watching it in high school, then picking it up for cheap on DVD about a year ago.

Man, what the fuck was I thinking?

moderate original film, not sure if its worthy of the cult status that's been lavished upon it. I'm surprised the sequel is getting a theatrical release. To me this seems like an obvious dtd.

saw it last night. sucked. the plot was decent enough but it was carried out horribly, they tried way too hard to make it funny, too many stupid boston "inside" jokes as if they were trying to prove their cred. it could have been good but it was not.

both willem dafoe and rocco make cameos

I think my friend summed it up pretty nicely when he said "that would be like doing a Pulp Fiction II."

if he's in any way comparing boondock saints to pulp fiction you should find a new friend.

I think what the person was trying to say is "How can you make a sequel to such a cult classic?"

But the ending of the original left a sequel open.

it pisses me off so much the the original is considered a classic

Pulp Fiction has an open ending too with Jules and should never, EVER be compared to Boondock Saints

Just saw the sequel the other day. It has a lot more humor than I expected. Just like any other sequel to a great movie, it was a let-down. However, I wouldn't take that into consideration when watching the film. I've been waiting for this movie for a very long time. And it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Some parts kinda dragged on, but overall it was a good movie. I'll definitely watch it again.... love the saints.

if you're a hardcore boondock saints fan, you'll be disappointed... without a doubt.

It has a cult following. Far from a 'cult classic.'

I loved the first one. it was an awesome, satisfying action/comedy. to be honest I enjoyed this too. however, in some parts it tried WAAAAAAY too hard to be funny where no joking would've been more effective. and that Eunice broad's fucking Southern accent could not have been more thick and annoying if they filled her mouth with molasses. also she tried way to hard to be Dafoe's character for the first movie. also, the last scene felt like it was taken from a hypothetical third movie and pasted on the end of this one.

overall though, it was pretty good. if you liked the first one you'll more than likely enjoy this one, and anyone who tells you differently probably took the first movie way to seriously

yes. most "cult" classics DO, in fact, have "cult" followings...thats why they're called "cult classics".............................

Agree with everything here. And I'm not sure Eunice had enough walking slow-mo into a fan scenes. Needed about 7 more of those.

And I love Billy Connolly.

honestly when she felt the need to spin her gun 494848 times and walk down the table trying to act like she was a part of the scene just like Dafoe didd in the first movie, I really wanted to start laughing my ass off. so bad

People in my theater actually did laugh at that. I laughed at when she was recreating the fake 'mafia members kill each other' bit and the fan was blowing in her face so hard she was squinting and only had one eye open.

I really enjoyed this movie. I went into it expecting to see Boondock Saints all over again, and that's what I got. Haha.

I half-expected Eunice to be Smecker after a sex change however

and Clifton Collins Jr.'s character was hilarious.

I saw this last week and I have to say it was really good, considering I thought it was going to be a horrible cash in on the original movie's cult status. I hope they make another sequel to this, I would love to see how the story wraps up.

I didn't find it too bad. I liked it and thought it was pretty funny. Definitely not as good at the first (but its unfair comparing it to the first) but it was still pretty solid overall. I wasn't expecting to much from it and for certain thought it was going to be not to good. I liked how they kept most of the characters in the loop and I especially liked the back story with the father and his "friend."

It seems as if they are trying to set up for a third one though at the end.

Was not nearly as bad as I feared. Actually was entertained.
