I'm hoping Tursonov loses in the next round. If he wins, he plays him. And Henman never beats Tursonov. Ever. He outplayed him last year at Wimbledon.

The only thing you even need to think about watching is the Nadal - Federer final. Everyone knows it will happen. I really think that's the surest bet in sports right now.

So you think because they're the top 2 in the world, they are both in the final by deafault?
Nadal isn't even that fit haha.
i hope federed wins it, i love that guy
i can see nadal getting upset just because everyone is expecting him to make the finals. Now if we only had an american who could play on clay...

Hmnn, Blake seems pretty invincible atm haha. He could be a dark horse. He seems to have just randomly come out of nowhere recently to become one of the best players on the tour. Supposedly Sharapova was poor in her match. She was 3 match points down at 5-2 in the final set at one point. She won in the end though.

Blake's unbeaten against Nadal :)
I'd love see an american to actually win a tournament. I've been out of it, but did Roddick withdraw because of his ankle?

Thanks nfggc10 for telling me abour Roddick.

Yes Blake and Nalbandain are dark horses for this years title. Supposedly Nalbandian waltzed in the second round easily. And yes I think clay is Murray's best surface, seeing as he learnt tennis in Barcelona, and that's pretty much like the home of clay court tennis. Isn't clay basically all they have over there?
I'm looking forward to another Nadal - Federer final. Intense.

i think murray's well overrated
sure the kids got talent, but i don't think he'll ever be a top 5 player
although i could see him lurking around 8 to 20ish in the ranks one day
xglassjawx
05/29/06, 04:01 AM
Hmmn, he's very hyped up over here. But I wouldn't say overrated. I mean, he won his first ATP title 4 months after his debut again the World's number 1. Plus he started 2005 barely in the top 500, and ended it in the top 70.
Rusedski plays later. I haven't even heard of the guy he's playing haha.
Murray V Monfils should be a good match. I wish I could watch it, we only get both of the finals on normal TV here. :(

Supposedly Murray V Monfils is being billed as match of the day tommorow. Murray beat him in the juniors so I've got my fingers crossed! I just wish I could watch it! :( But maybe I'll be able to catch a bit of it on the news.

I think Blake got to the semis in the US Open. I had planned to go all summer last year and then didn't becaus eof not having enough cash. Now I'll be in college during it so maybe in four years . . .
When i read the match report I saw that it was in Reading and I was like I got to ask him if he went.
In tennis news, Andy Roddick looked like shit in the second set (I didn't see the first), and retired in the third set of his first round match. I wasn't watching the match that closely, but he wasn't playing well. He didn't look slowetr than normal, and i think he retired just so that he didnt have to say he lost in the first round to an unknown.

i think Roddick's hay days are over
his serve has been matched by numerous players and those without the serving power have the strength of return
sure in a few months when he gets his health and whatever else sorted he'll return to being a quality player but not in contention for #1 again, despite Federer

I heard he was poor, but I don't think his best days are behind him. I mean, he's got to be like only 25.

yeah americans always struggle on clay. but Andy said that he's really looking forward to the grass and hardcourt tournaments starting after the french. he's always done really well on those surfaces so he should be fine. but beating Federer or Nadal is almost impossible for anyone without alot of luck.

I never did either. I was going by what ESPN.com said.
I saw the second set of Hingis beating a Czech. I missed the first set because I went to walk my dog. Match was 46 minutes I think.
Clisters beat someone while the Hingis match was going on.
The first few games of Kim - Nadal. Kim looked good but as soon as they switched from the game he faded and Nadal won the first set.
Right now we have the third set of Blake's match. He looked really good in the second set, except his serve was a bit shaky at times.
EDIT: The Blake match is a continuation of last night's match which was called due to darkness.
EDIT 2: Blake won his match in four sets.

Nadal won out easy and Blake called it a day after he won the second because it was getting too dark so they will come back tomorrow. I recommend you try cbssportsline.com They have grea coverage of the tournament whenever you need it.

but for the finals? i still think federer/nadal final. it'll be a good one. hopefully as good as last year's match up between them at the french.

i have to disagree. First it is not always nadal and federer, nadal has only been on the scene for about a year. Yes federer has been dominating for the past few years, but the guy may be the greatest player ever and he is a beauty to watch. He has no weaknesses. In the women's game, the seeds always advance, there are never any upstarts. This year all 8 players remaining are seeded players (and the highest seed remaining is 16). On the men's side, half of the 8 players are unseeded (although it is suprising to see the four tops seeds still in it). the men's game is more competitive because guys can come out of nowhere. James blake came out of nowhere at last year's US Open to make a run before losing the epic match to Agassi. And what about marcos baghditis and his amazing run at the australian, the guy was unseeded and beat roddick, ljubicic, and nalbandian in a row, and then took federer to four sets.
The men's game is amazing, the women's is good but there are never any real cinderella stories.

i think my favourite years were 2000 - 2003
when anyone in the mens top 10 had a chance at taking the tittle
guga, safin, hewitt, roddick, federer, ferrero etc were all giving everything at every major event to be at the top of the table, might just be me but i loved it
haha, roddick never had a chance, his game doesn't translate on clay. If sampras could never win the french, then roddick never will.

The women's game is boring. It is slow, drawn out and there are far too many 6-0 or 6-1 sets early in the tournament. There hasn't been a dominant player in women's tennis in quite some time. I'm hoping that Hingis can change this but only time will tell.

No match will ever beat the 2002 Us Open final. As far as tennis goes I think that is the match that will define our generation. It was the perfect ending to a great rivalry. Pistol Pete on top, over Agassi, the way it always should be.

Yeah, he's kinda inconsistent too. I'd bet my life on a Nadal Federer final at this rate. *yawns* Are both the semis today?
yeah they are.....i'm hoping they both can play quick matches today so that they can be at their best energy levels on sunday, tennis really needs a Federer/Nadal final

Well it's shaping up to be a Nadal/Federer final. Nalbandian- after winning the first set and getting the first break in the second set, Federer finally kicked in. he made some awesome shots and it was all Federer after that. David retired in the third set with a strain in the left side of his stomach. hopefully nadal can beat up ljubicic quickly and be all ready for Federer on sunday. Than again, nadal could play for days and never stop.

Ah that sucks :(
Anyway, I think the England match this afternoon could just take over the Women's final :)
