This is not a thread about your favorite album of all time. If you were to recommend one or two albums to someone you barely know, what would it be? I was listen to "Everything In Transit" by Jack's Mannequin, and I think that just an album everyone in the world should hear. Any more suggestions?

Everytime I mention that I like Jimmy Eat World to someone that listens to mainstream rock they say, "oh yeah the middle was pretty good." Makes me shake my head... sooo Def. Clarity would be the album I recommend the most.

Recently however? Lots of me friends liked the format but apparently didn't catch the bus with fun. It seems I recommend Aim and Ignite on a weekly basis.

If I had no knowledge about indie music, I guess this is 2 albums who would blow my mind and open up my curiosity for non-mainstream music. This is 2 albums that I recommend for radio only listeners.

If choosing a mewithoutYou album, go with their best full length (A->B Life) or their first EP... they gradually lost their edge from that point on.

Oh really? I wasn't aware that your opinion of what their best album is had anything to do with mine. Weird.

Don't get upset, chap. In all seriousness, if you like their harder edged stuff at all, find yourself their first EP (though a physical copy is unlikely as there were few). Their intesity during this era just blew me away. Not that they don't still have a powerful, quirky, and different sound, but being there during their inception was brilliant. Their early live shows were amazing.

I do, however, harbor a grudge with the band, seeing as their signing to T&N lead to the demise of my then favorite band, the Operation.

This is not a thread about your favorite album of all time. If you were to recommend one or two albums to someone you barely know, what would it be? I was listen to "Everything In Transit" by Jack's Mannequin, and I think that just an album everyone in the world should hear. Any more suggestions?

I know. They're just albums that I like. Not trying to piss anyone off...

Next time, try following the directions at the beginning of the thread. I see you are new, though. I have been here long enough to not get enjoyment out of taunting every new kid with horrible taste that shows up here. However, the vast majority of AP members validate their music taste by insulting someone elses. If you want to talk about FBR bands, you can do so in their respective official threads (use the Search function if you have to). I hope you enjoy AP, just be warned there are a lot of e-deuchebags here.

hard lesson learned @ ap.net: learn to like radiohead or learn to say you do.

...or pay. dearly.

this is a very subjective thread. you're essentially asking, not what album is the best of all time - as some are taking it, but what album means the most to you. for me, the devil and god are raging inside me means alot to me, so i naturally would want to pass that feeling along to someone else. if an album can heal you, in some way. or open you up again. it's amazing. sure, i see some albums on this thread and think, "...really?", but whatever. not everyone can like radiohead and sigur ros.

it's corny, but can't we just get along?

Same here (with Radiohead; I'm a pretty big Sigur Ros fan)...I only have a problem with people who take issue with me not liking certain bands (e.g., Radiohead), and try to shove it down your throat that they're better than you for liking them. I don't chastise people for not liking Bright Eyes, or Sigur Ros, or any other band for that matter; if it's a band I truly think is shit (e.g., Hinder), I'll just stay out of the conversation. To me, music is like beer: you drink Blue Moon, I drink Sam Adams, but they're each refreshing to the respective drinker. Of course, in this analogy, Hinder is Natty.

No disrespect that you would have that opinion. Which bands persay do you think have done TDWP, but better?

to me tdwp kinda takes things from many different bands in the genre. they're talented guys for sure, i just can't say i care for them.

you know, you kinda pwnd me here. as palahniuk put it, "everything is a copy of a copy of a copy." i can't just call out one band because they aren't reinventing the genre.

but if i had to mention a few bands i feel do it better
still remains, underoath, parkway drive, hell even miss may i

That is true.
You certainly aren't like other douches who are immediate to bash the band.
I know some others on here who'll do that shit.
I can't exactly listen to the other ones you think you are better at the moment, considering you can't name them, but oh well, no worries.
I just have always liked their vocals, and drum collaboration, along with the guitars. Just something about them I guess, (them specifically) that I really enjoyed. Not to say, other bands are total shit. I just take a big liking in The Devil Wears Prada.

i usually try to have a legitimate reason to hate on a band.

and i named some in an edit to my previous post.
