Ameris was an alternative/indie rock band from the Beaver County area. Active from 2005 until the summer of 2007, they self-released one full length self-titled album, recorded and produced by guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist Drew Howell. The album, their demo EP, and some b-sides can be downloaded for free here (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZPJRUBM9), and three songs from the album, including piano-led highlight "Alice," can be streamed here on their MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/theamerisparty). Recommended for fans of Copeland, Thrice, and the Receiving End of Sirens.

And I think we've reached the people who will post in this thread... now! Haha kidding. I'm going to procrastinate and check them out real quick.

Edit: Wow, I really enjoy these dudes. Will be downloading.

I'm glad you enjoy them. Definitely come back and let me know your thoughts after you get a chance to listen to the whole album. Thank you for ignoring lame homework for the sake of good music. ;-)

Exactly. Even though I do accept less than quality music sometimes if it's free.

the screaming in And In Hushed Voices They Conspire took me completely off guard. Upon my first listen I think that's my favorite track but that'll likely change. Thanks for cluing me into these guys.

Yeah, it's probably my favorite after "Alice," though I also love "Voyage."

You're welcome. I loved these guys, so it feels great to share their music with others.

In return I will rec you one of my all time favorite bands that I created a thread about ages ago and never got any attention.

I recommend starting with the 3rd video as it's their best song imo. Also you can get their record 100 Grim Reapers from emusic for free if you sign up for the trial offer. Just make sure that you cancel your subscription before it ends so you don't get charged money you don't want to pay.

That's right! I'm having an off day, so just disregard(half pun) me and carry on.

I decided to listen to their S/T album tonight and I couldn't help but notice that my Zune software decided that the cover art for their "Chapter 1" ep looks like:

:-d That's great. Here (http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPictu re&friendID=58481112&albumId=660164) are some MySpace pics to choose from if you want a more legit artwork (if, of course, any art could be more legit than that). I think the third one is the one they used for that EP, but it's pretty poorly drawn, lol, so maybe one of the photos would be better.

Oh, and quality bump. "Alice" is still awesome, as is "Voyage."

I like that Probable Cause art better than those other choices. I might just creep on some FB friends' art photos to use.

But, dude...

...you can totally see my friend rocking the five-string in this pic! He was, like, the BOOM of the band or something. So, uh, yeah.

LOL. Nobody cares about bassists!

I'm thinking of using this. I just wish it was a better photograph of the piece itself.

Former Ameris members Drew (recording/guitar/keyboard/some vocals, most prominently on "Alice"), Troy (bass), and Austin (their original guitarist) have started a new band called Melbourne. You can stream and download two songs on their Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Melbourne/193502457357248). Drew's on vocals and recording/production, so it's a similar sound, but much more stripped down. Check it out, y'all.
