I brought this up in another topic but I'd like to see it expanded on.
What do you folks think?

This would result in the most ridiculous gerrymandering ever, I'd imagine.

I don't understand why it would be a clusterfuck and I'd say the potential for gerrymandering is the same.

Texas would be fine on its own. We have enough oil (would be great for our economy), produce and cattle to be self dependent. Plus our BBQ is better than anywhere else. 25% of the armed forces (65% of the marines) are from here, assuming they come back to defend Texas. 70% of new jobs in America in 2008 were made in Texas. I mean we were our own sovereign nation before with success. I in no means support it. It could feasibly work here, however Texas is truly the greatest state so if it did happen I would proudly stay and support her.

Questions:
1. Who would be in charge of the districting process?
2. Would we retain the same amount of districts?
3. Would we ignore county and municipal boundaries too?
4. Wouldn't this result in wildly different-shaped districts each census?

How about we just have one big district? ;-)

What about a world without borders?

On the East coast where the states are already a clusterfuck i guess that would work, maybe. But state boundaries are never going to go away, even if they don't mean much geopolitically.

1. I am personally for an independent commission, with two from each major party and one 'independent,' who is unregistered.
2. Yes.
3. No.
4. Probably.
