a lot of the things people say are ridiculous...

i completely agree with this

meh, some of the sarcastic comments in that article could be flipped (as they have) to show his numbers are not nearly as valuable considering win probability and leverage index (articles I posted) I will say though, new yorkers in general jump on A-rod way more than necessary.

Haha. I like how he ends it with something that ARod could NEVER do. Two AL teams can't both play in the WS obviously.

(Oh, and it has to be in Game 7 of the World Series against the Red Sox, or it won't count.)

i love how most yankee fans have essentially let red sox fans and the media completely reshape their view of a-rod

all you heard when they got him was that it was over. they had the game on lock. world series for the next 20 years. whatever whatever.

now they fuckin hate the guy cuz he has a nack for fucking up in crucial situations.

ah i love it. thank god the players union fucked the red sox out of getting him. best thing that ever happened to this team.

clutch is not a stat. home runs and rbis are. when the whole team steps it up, they win. for people to blame arod for not being clutch, is kind of stupid.

they hardly contradict each other. the media and red sox fans just continually remind yankee fans of the few occasions and its completely turned yankee fans against a-rod

its hilarious.

while there is no definite way of defining clutch--and I have said this--it is being worked on as we speak (or type). Hardballtimes.com has tried to define clutch and even has a stats called "clutch" and other stats such as Win probability try to define the meaning of a homerun in the second as opposed to a homerun in the 9th. However, there is no true and definite way to define a player as clutch because stats like win probability only last for that one game and as far as I know, there is no correlation between seasons or even games of win probability. I guess you could look and see that over a course of 3 seasons Ortiz has had high win probabilities in key games, but its a stretch to call it a clutch stat.

I think you're giving the red sox too much credit...seriously its not like a red sox fan walks up to a yankee fan and says a-rod sucks and they're like "hm....maybe you're right..." I personally love A-rod, and just like everyone fucking jumped on Randy Johnson last year, yea, he wasnt great, but he beat the red sox enough to get us the division, and without him we would probably have been in a rough spot. I don't think as many yankee fans hate a-rod as you think.

i dont hate either of them.

i hate this whole argument. everyone gives ARod way too much criticism. you know who is 2nd in the league (behind only Pujols) in go ahead RBIs this year? yeah, A-Rod. he gets way too much criticism

go look at matsui's stats last year in the playoffs. go look at bernie's stats last year in the playoffs. plain and simple, thjere were others that fucked up just as much as ARod did

and on damon, i love the way he plays. sure, i hated him on boston but hes helping us greatly. AND hes playing injured, which makes me like him even more

im not a fan of damon because i dont think the yankees needed him. crosby has a much stronger arm and is probably almost as fast.

why does a-rod get blame for the yankees being a bad playoff team the last couple years that he's been there, yet jeter get's no blame, despite being the capatain? Shouldn't he be getting the credit AND the blame because he's the face of the modern day yankees and the team captain? that's ridiculous. yankee fans are ridiculous.

yeah and he'd only hit for about .100 less. jesus ....i hate damon for the whole situation but even I'd admit hes 10x the player Crosby ever will be.

maybe if the yankees pitching staff didn't give up 6 runs a game arod would not have to be so clutch.

damon's value as a lead off hitter is much better than bubba crosby as a player.

only 6 teams have given up fewer runs than the Yankees (4.17 ERA), and NO team has scored more runs.

this year. I'm talking about in Arod's yankee career. If you look at their losses though...12 of the 20 they give up at least 6 runs.

Very funny read. Personally I've never hated ARod. People get too extreme with their opinions of him and are way too harsh on their judgement. I'll admit I was expecting a lot more from him, but that's not to say he hasn't been performing. This article puts it very well.

this was a funny piece. More true than most people know too. Heard some crazy yankee fans say some stupid ass things

Jeter or Mariano Rivera is sacrosanct though
