It kinda is, at least by the rules of this website, because there is a forum where people can post their bands material and whore themselves out, but it's not the MUSIC section. If the people in these bands weren't so out of fucking touch with the music scene, this website, and general common sense, they would know that posting once randomly at ap.net is the same kind of marketing as putting your bands CD into a stereo at Wal-Mart; no one listening (or reading) really gives a fuck.

Yup, it's generally complete garbage, and I have a few threads in the music section that I like to go to, and I don't want to have to go to looking down to page 3 because some assholes can't read the rules and are posting their shitty music, typed out raps, and pissy critiques of Say Anything's show from 3 weeks ago.

If I wanted to enter a forum full of idiots with mindless babble that doesn't resemble anything close to the discussion that this part of the forum was intended for, I'd head for the Personal Life section.

The postings like this piss me off especially since it shows that the band has no idea what the fuck they are doing, because if they did, they would know posting a link to your myspace on ap.net is essentially like trying to sell your homemade notebook drawings in an art appreciation class. No one gives a fuck, and it's probably not good.

Oh, and 99 times out of 100, when you bands post music up on a site like this, it doesn't get favorable reviews, it just makes them and their shitty band look like asshats, but, had you any sort of reading comprehension whatsoever, you'd know that I called this band the 1 out of 100 who isn't shitty. However, I didn't change the original message because that still stands for the other 99.

2.) I know that both you and that d12 chick or whoever she was both have under 200 posts (which isn't a bad thing) but it means you probably haven't been on these forums long. In almost all cases, the bands they are promoting are horrendous, and they clog up the front page of the MUSIC section, which means I have to dig through the pages to find the threads I like. Now, I know that going allllll the way to page 3 isn't much work, but when 60% of the topics on the page have NOTHING to do with what the music forum is intended for or belonged in a different, pre-existing thread, it gets irritating.

3.) That first person who commented said they worked for Victory (they don't) and gave them a link to Tony Brummell's e-mail (I don't think he'll be signing them) and moved on.

Why be such a dick? Well, as you can ask some people on this site, I kind of am a dick. People coming on to a music forum to push their music without giving the rules of the site or the site itself a thought is not only irritating, it's pointless. If that guy wanted people to give a shit (seeing as his band isn't that bad) he would have done better to actually make some posts, then tell people about his band. It's called grassroots marketing.

I read the thread because being in America I am not exposed to many underground bands from other parts of the world (I do enjoy Bodyjar, Beatsteaks, The (International) Noise Conspiracy, Millencolin, etc., but you'll notice that most of them are on major-ish labels) so I came in here to see if it was an established band (because I don't put unsigned bands with two songs on my iPod, as they could break up tomorrow and who would give a fuck) only to discover that it wasn't an established band, but a new band who should have been in the SELF PROMOTION forum. So I made my initial post, then the edit, then you came out of left field and started all this shit.

Plus, I have spent a lot of time trying to promote bands I have worked with, and one of the worst, worst WORST things you can do is go to an anonymous message board and plug your band on your first post. To me, it just shows a disconnect between the band members and what they should be doing to promote themselves, so it irritates me. I know it sounds pissy and arrogant when I do it, but it's essentially my way of yelling 'NO!' at a kid sticking his hand on a burner.

The essay's on philosophy, greek philosophy that's thousands and thousands of years old and makes absolutely no sense. A guy called gorgias trying to argue that nothing exists. I just want to write "This guy is the reason that people don't take philosophy seriously" on a piece of paper and hand that in! Definitely giving up on it for tonight though.
