Is there any difference between the two? Which one would you prefer?

They're the same thing? If you meant 1x12 or 2x12, I go with 1x12. But I have nothing against 2x12, really...

Depends on how the cabs are built / stacked / wood type / etc, but 2x12 will be about the same volume as two 1x12s and it will be a lot easier to haul around.

I'm one for not hauling around two cabs. Screw that noise. Not worth it anyway.

two 1X12 is only useful if you are running stereo effects in a studio, or have two heads.

You have to have two heads (or at least two power amps) to run stereo effects, and that can still be done with a 2x12 cab (not quite with quite as much effect though)
