No. This Will Be The Death Of Us showcases a more mature Set Your Goals with more creative songwriting. Mutiny! was just a bunch of fast verses with catchy choruses and songs that didn't really flow together (lazy songwriting).

No. This Will Be The Death Of Us showcases a more mature Set Your Goals with more creative songwriting. Mutiny! was just a bunch of fast verses with catchy choruses and songs that didn't really flow together (lazy songwriting).
For me though, TWBTDOU sounds just like every other trendy pop punk meets hardcore band out there, with better songwriting and a misplaced instrumental track. On the other hand, Mutiny! is a very mature and unique pop punk album. It's lack of cohesion is one of the things that make it appeal to me.

The songwriting style on Mutiny! is much more of a trend than on TWBDTOU, and it requires a lot less talent to do. Any musician could write a fast paced verse and switch unnaturally into a huge chorus and then proceed to slow into a drop-tuned breakdown. It takes a talented songwriter to write a piece with a tone that stays the same trough the whole song while remaining interesting, which is something SYG did very well while writing TWBTDUO.

I think TWBTDOU is miles ahead of Mutiny on all aspects. It has flow, and isn't just like every othe rband imo. I really don't think Mutiny! was that original even though I do love it.
