However, AVA is a pleasant surprise! On myspace they said that they'd debut at number 4, but if I'm not mistaken, it appears they'll be number 3... that's pretty fucking sweet if ya ask me! :)

the first number means how many units were sold in the previous week, while the second number refers to total units sold.
where you want to be is currently at around 711,000, so considering that louder now has been out for just over a month, those numbers aren't bad.

I'm thinking the exact opposite. When I initially saw that they sold almost 10,000 CDs their first week, I was shocked! Thats way more than they've ever done in one week. I thought that was a high number for them. MTV paid off for them.

It took me about 10 listens to finally appreciate it and another 10 to fall head over heels in love with it. The great albums are ones that don't click instantly but have enough to keep you coming back until you fully embrace it. If that doesn't happen, then you'll usually burn out or get sick of it really fast. I really don't give a fuck what you think of me, I have an uncontrollable urge to correct misinformed or generalized statements.

I dont know why so many people think the Halifax numbers are low. That amazes me that they sold almost 7k in a week. Remember people.. Indie Gold is 50,000 records. For alot of the bands in this "scene" that is a huge milestone and not all of them make it or even come close.
The Halifax numbers are VERY disappointing...
um... really, they arent groundbreaking, regardless of the fact they were on the realworld... i saw them when i am the avalanche and punchline were support and it was borderline embarrasing... i wouldnt be very happy with these numbers if i was them...

when you have your own tv show on mtv and the cd looks like it wont even go gold, thats a failure in my book.
I agree...that show is essentially a 3-month advertisement. Same with that crappy-looking Cheyenne show.

sound the alarm sucked. i love STD, but it sucked.
anyway, dear taking back sunday: release miami as a single and blow up.
dear thursday: get a new producer and rerelease the record. the production prevents me from enjoying the great music. really.
I love you for saying that about Miami , almost nobody considers that as the best song , But the chorus is absolutely amazing , singing along all the time

Escape the Fate - There's No Sympathy for the Dead: 1,034 (1,078)
HELL YEAH!! BEST NEW BAND BY FAR! Have you guys checked them out?
lol?
I dont know why so many people think the Halifax numbers are low. That amazes me that they sold almost 7k in a week. Remember people.. Indie Gold is 50,000 records. For alot of the bands in this "scene" that is a huge milestone and not all of them make it or even come close.
Is "indie gold" an actual, recognized accomplishment?
Angels & Airwaves - We Don't Need to Whisper: 126,810 (127,458)
I dont get how in a cd first week out copies sold that week is less then total copies.
CDs sold before the release date.

hmm that's true. do you happen to know how long the cd has been out?
does anyone knows how many copies have been sold of Emanuel's Soundtrack to a Headrush (best cd of 2005 imo)

Taking Back Sunday are just on the verge of blowing up here. MDS is being played on music tv, cd stores are playing their album... it's only a matter of time (here being New Zealand).
I hope Thursday is a slow burner, that it keeps moving copies over the next few months in small numbers.
