reposted from my blog. thoughts? it's sort of rough.
Paperweight Fantasies
I have paperweight fantasies,
Dreams of holding the intangible down.
A motive, a standard, an ideal, an angel
Wrestling with me on the ground.
I have paperweight fantasies,
Visions of stability, strength.
Thrusting my chin into gravity's face
Instead of collapsing against its weight.
I have paperweight fantasies,
Passions of purpose and stone.
Though this labor seems blunt and unfeeling
It rewards my existence alone.
Yes, I have paperweight fantasies,
And these words strive to meet them each day.
I realize I am not yet a rock,
But nor are my feet cast from clay.

I enjoyed the images in here, and the way you bring each idea to the next stanza, somehow transfering to another idea. good job.

very impressive man. my only thing is that the direction of your poem is so advanced and ambitious while your rhyming is just sort of awkward, making it a little odd. you use basic level rhymes like day and clay and stone and alone but the elements and ideas your present to the reader are so fascinating and illustrious.
excellent though. short, sweet, and purposeful.

I liked it, it seemed sorta wistful in a way if that makes sense. These were definitely my favorite lines 'cause of that story in the bible where the guy, whose name I can't remember for the life of me, wrestles with an angel or God, I can't quite recall. Do you know the story I'm talking about?

Yes I was just wondering is all, didn't mean to sound like a babbling babbler. Nice job I really did enjoy your piece.
