The Summer Obsession (http://www.myspace.com/thesummerobsession)'s Virgin Records debut, This Is Where You Belong, is set to hit stores on August 29th (http://www.absolutepunk.net/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=821&day=2006-8-29).
I like this band and am definately looking forward to this release.

Saw them on the Cartel/HTL tour. It was a great undercard.

Read the lyrics and tell me you still like this band.
What a joke. I can't tell if they are serious or just want to appeal to 12 year old girls. I laughed through their set two days in a row. The singer is also obnoxious.

A lot of The Beatles' lyrics weren't exactly stellar and definitely appealed to 12 year old girls...
If you don't like em, you don't like em, but why do you care about what anyone else likes?

yeah their lyrics are cheesy and dumb
but they also arent the mars volta..they are the summer obsession..a pop band

They are a boy band.
They used session artists for the album, the drummer used to be in Good Charlotte, and the bassist isn't in their music video.
The only reason that they're touring with bands like Cartel / Hit The Lights / Settings / Houston Calls / Big City Dreams is because Virgin is trying to get them some cred before they push them to TRL.
Their lyrics are awful. Seriously, read them.
That said, I kind of like them.

The Beatles were a boy band as well... and even though you may not like them, you can't deny that they're one of the most respected bands of all time. I'm not saying The Summer Obsession are the next Beatles, but just because a band's music may appeal to little girls isn't a good argument for why they suck (and I know you said you kind of like em, I'm just sayin though).
can't lie, they are fun summer music. remember Trouble Is or Start Trouble? I don't rem if it was one or both, or something else before that even.

They were Trouble is, then when their album came out they changed it to Start Trouble. Matt Pinfield from MTV heard the stuff the bassist/singer was writing and got "him" signed, the rest of the band was formed around him.
There were some very catchy songs on their CD, but also some horrible lyrics, such as "Love is a chemical, straight from your genitals" and "I ain't got shit to do in the morning, fuck the surgeon general's warning, lets get fucked up"

I rather like the summer obsession! the only session musician they used was josh freese for the drums, who was even considering joining the summer obsession...
chris is an amazing drummer and deserves a really good band.. their new bass player was added so the singer could play the piano parts.:D
they are SO good live, if you haven't heard them or don't think they are good live... go check out their performance in atlanta on their myspace page!
