Days Away (www.myspace.com/daysaway) really deserves more love. The band's latest release, Mapping An Invisible World, was one of my personal favorites of 2005 and I strongly suggest you check it out if you haven't done so already.

I agree, Frank. It isn't loud, or flashy, or hooky - it is just solid and beautiful. As a girl posted on a site that I used to write for, it just "makes you feel infinite." As abstract as that sounds, it fits.

It's kind of strange, you know? A FBR artist with, well, "talent" and "originality" at once.

As far as I know, they're writing new material, but they haven't begun anything solid yet.

I really agree...these guys topped my 2005 list. Hands down, the best album of the year in my book. Keith Goodwin can never do any wrong. I'm ready for new material.

In other news, I think The Forecast's new album will take the 2006 cake for me.

exactly. their music took a lot of time to grow on me. i saw them live last year march when they opened for the starting line, and i was like WHAT THE HECK is this crap? but about a month later i decided i would buy their album and give it a shot. the first few times i listened to it i wasn't all that impressed, but then it started growing on me and now i love it times a million. theres just a sincerity and cleanliness about their music that i love. but yeah, everybody at least give them a chance, and listen to their stuff more then once. AMAZING live band if you know their music also.

A random rec but it is sooooo true. 'Mirrors and 'god and mars' and 'T. Klines Decline' are some amazing songs. I love this album and i wish these guys would make something new very very quick

now, to keep the random thoughts going: do you think a normal sized fox would be able to eat a human sized chicken?

Yes, just yes. Since the first time i heard this band they became my favirote of all time. Days Away could honestly never come out with another album and i wouldent be mad because Mapping An Invisible World is SO PERFECTLY AMAZING that it seems impossible to make something that beautifill again. But I think these guys have the capability to do it. It sucks they dont get the love, ive seen them once live allready seeing them again next month and i cant wait, really looking forward to the new stuff. Oh, and listen to This Heat on the sound of animals fighting album, its AMAZING.

#4 of 2005 for me, just incredibly good. I really don't understand how people can pass it up, yet get really stoked about Forgive Durden and JamisonParker and [insert featured artist here].

I don't remember why I bought this album, but I listen to it probably every day. I'm really upset that all of their Philly shows are 21+. They should do something about that.

:)

I just did, for like an hour!

But yes, this band is completely off the radar lately and it makes me sad because this album is so underrated. It's not catchy/FOB-type hook record so I think a lot of people wrote it off after one listen.

I guess I'll have to check out this album. I've seen them live twice opening up for The Starting Line, last year and the year before, and I just could not get into them. Looking back on it, the second time they seemed so much different than the first time, but then again, my music taste has changed a ton since then as well.

i check up on ap.net every so often. i just thought this thread was funny because frank and i had just been talking about days away and then i scolded him for not sleeping then he left to get a bagel, which is his usual course of action at 8:30am after not going to sleep. frank, i'm out to expose all of your secrets.

keith told me that they have made it their goal to finish 2 albums worth of music before the Circa tour. I can't wait to hear it! As for mapping an invisible world... i think it may have staying power because they are rippers... true musicians playing pop songs... endless possibilities and i think they're still finding their sound which is cool. have a good time with days away!

If your a fan of Mute Math, then you will be a fan of Days Away, a tour with both of them together would be amazing.
