Ummmm
having all those instruments doesn't make you good.
I'm not saying he's not a talented guy, but it is pretty ridiculous to call this genius before you've heard any of it... big lineups are this year's synth. (Just like synth was last year's replacement for screaming.)

big line ups are last years synth? where do you even get that.
and just for your info the idea of having lots of people backing him up at least to play live was always something kicking in the back of his mind. this is not an attempt to jump on the 'it' bandwagon, even though i still fail to see where you are getting the idea that tons of members in bands is the new thing.

I'm wondering if this may sound a little bit like the hush sound...if you listen to their cd they seem to have an abundance of horns on the album (which I'm wondering how they're going to pull off live, but find out this sunday) and obviously keyboard..

dear hunter IS his solo project. it was his main band before he joined treos, then it got pushed back to side project. it wasn't entirely his choice to leave treos. and when i talked to him last time [before he left treos] he had told me he wanted to get kind of a band together for dear hunter.

HINT: you might want to contact him directly, instead of leaving a post to him in a message board he probably doesn't even read.

Did anyone say he was talented because of the intruments? I think you missed something. Next, how many bands have big lineups? I see a lot of 5 pieces with a singer that wears shirts several sizes too small, yet no particularly large groups. Third, we HAVE heard it, i.e. the Dear Hunter. Your argument is void of fact and is based solely on your opinion (as to what your opinion is based on, I am left with nothing). This concludes my argument, being a contrarian is great, I consider myself one, but you are simply disagreeing to disagree.

I wasn't really mocking Casey I was mocking the multiple people in this thread who felt the need to post "amazing" or "incredible" based on the fact that he is adding a couple of unusual instruments.

You clearly have never heard The Dear Hunter before. Seeing as most (if not all) of the people commenting have heard assorted demos, and an entire EP, they are free to speculate that this will be "amazing" or "incredible" based on the fact that it was JUST him before, and it was amazing and incredible, so if he is allowed to expand his vision and integrate a full band into the sound, it will also be amazing and incredible. Thank you for your time.

Kind of, but with much more range, and far more consistent live.
And the new(er) song on www.purevolume.com/thedearhunter blows those older ones out of the water. I expect great things from him in the future.
Seriously this guy is one of my favorite musicians period. It's a shame he left TREOS because I personally don't know how they will replace him but I'll still support them. I think the Dear Hunter demos were amazing as well. I don't know if he will find the kind of muscians he is looking for but I hope it works out. Peace kids

I cannot wait to hear this. Casey was so good with treos and TDH sounds pretty good but very different from treos. I think all the instruments are make this very interesting.

having listened to the Dear Hunter songs on myspace and pv right now, i see him going in a sortof depressed Polyphonic Spree direction with this new lineup, and I can completely endorse that.
