Yea, I don't like when a band covers a song and it sounds exactly like the original. If a band has to do a cover, they should take it and add their sound to it. But I love this song nonetheless.

yeah def. a good pantera song. the band did this very well even though it sounds exactly like the original. i guess its good that they didnt kill the song by doing something stupid to it. you know this band isnt really bad. i actually listened to some of their cds and their no diffrent from like any 80's hair metal or metal band. the fact that their associated with the goth kids is a shame

I think it sounds awesome and I am not a fan of Avenged but they are so good at their instruments and they kill it live. I would have been alittle upset if they changed the song for the cover because it is Pantera and the tough thing about doing a cover like this is not fucking it up and making it gay.

Same ones over and over? It's called a chord progression.

Also, like i mentioned earlier, listen to "Cowboys From Hell" and report back on how they use the same riff over and over.

Or "Raining Blood" by Slayer.

I like it I wish you could download it.

Buy it - it's from a free CD with UK music magazine Kerrang!, full of cover versions. IMO the best track on the album by a long way is Biffy Clyro's version of Weezer's Buddy Holly. Alternatively, pirate it - it's already all over the web, and I think you can feel fairly morally justified on pirating the CD on the cover of a £1.99 magazine only avaliable over the pond. I bought it, then let others pirate it ;)

I don't understand why people get pissy when bands do cover versions - they're showing their love of the band and it's almost a "thankyou, we owe you and allow us to exist". There's no requirement that you like it more or anything.

The original song is still one of my all time favorite songs. I first heard it when i was 10. Still love it

What this cover lacks individually, i think, it makes up in consistency.

It''s well done. I dont think i would want any other band besides A7X covering the song. But then again, i could change my mind in time

exactly. at least in this instance. with things like Punk Goes 80s and such, the bands are just doing it to have some fun. but when you cover your major influence, its a "thank you for making music that made us want to make music."

I dont get why ever one keeps saying that they are glad they didnt change it , mess it up or whatever... It sounds exactly the same !!! what the fuck is the point of doing the cover then?? I would've rather heard them at least try to put their own spin on it and fuck it up than to hear the same exact song .. to me a cover is useless unless it differs from the origional

Its bad enough that this band is on Ozz Fest, but the fact that they had the nerve to cover Pantera.. wow. Pantera is one of if not the most importint metal bands from the 90's... there isnt a band in the free world that should be allowed to cover Pantera let alone AX7.

At the end of the day a cover is a cover version and rarely is better than the original so just get over it. If you want to hear something as good as the original you'll have to stick on your Pantera CD.

Good song. It sounds a little like only one of the guitarists played, or possibly one of the guitarists just didn't play during the solo (like the original recording by Pantera). Pantera makes me want to beat up little kids for no reason.

A7X has always had a problem with credability within the metal scene and always will... I feel like this is an attempt to show the metal scene that they are "cool"... lets face it there more radio friendly version of most of the ozz fest bands... this just feels like a lame attempt to fit in and gain some respect and to do that with Panteras music is not cool..

for those who say that they should have changed something to the song...you would be saying the exacty opposite if they would have "Omg they changed a classic!!!!" shut the fuck up and deal with it, there are bigger things in the world

And why may I ask do they have problems fitting in? Maybe I am missing something, ive never quite understood why they dont fit in. I can see why with their City of Evil cause thats quite different from their other two albums. But i think most people base their hatred on Avenged Sevenfold as if City of Evil is their first album. They didnt get this much shit before City of Evil came out.

Basically anything from Tooth and Nail/Solid State, lots of Victory bands (Darkest Hour, Spitalfield), metal (Soilwork, God Forbid, Arch Enemy), metalcore (Killswitch Engage, It Dies Today) rock (Lostprophets, Taproot), your typical "emo/screamo" stuff (Underoath, Hawthorne Heights),

you want to talk about the same riffs over and over, and the same sound every song, well those shitty bands you like dont do anything good or original compared to pantera.

if they would have stuck to sound from waking the fallen, they would have been well accepted within the not so mainstream community, i think eternal rest is a great song, i was in love with that song for like 2 years, than city of evil ruined it all so i gave up on them.

Blah blah blah, I really don't give a shit. And as I said in another post, I prefer stuff that is faster. I don't really even know the reason, but a minute into this song I seriously just thought "fuck it, this is boring". Take that for what you will, I don't care. I listen to what I like. Did I ever say anything about the song being bad or unoriginal? No. I simply said that it bored me. You people read way too much into things. And when I said the same riffs over and over, I didn't really know what the fuck I was talking about. I meant that opening line that is repeated over and over in the song. It doesn't exactly "hook" me, sorry.

They had the same problem Finch had. They didn't want to play the music that made them popular, and they lost a lot of fans because of it. Finch lost a lot of fans period, at least A7X gained new fans (a lot of them, to be more precise). I love Waking the Fallen, and don't like City of Evil much at all, but I still understand the change.

yeah your right they do have the same problem Finch had.. they suck.. atleast Finch took the hint and stopped.... Walk isnt the best Pantera song.. the bottom line at the end of the day though is that Pantera records have a heart and soul to them.. theres feeling and meaning to a Pantera record.. A7X feels fake from start to end... listen to "The Great Southern Trendkill" or "Vulger Display Of Power" from start to finish and you will understand what I mean.. I think its also kind of ironic that they covered one of the best heavy bands of the past 15 years and decided to do one of there most radio friendly songs.. that to me says.. "hmmm lets try to get some cred while at the same time hook some more stupid people in" but hey thats just what I think..

I hate to echo what many people always say about them: you might not like them (which I think is understandable), but you really can't say they suck. Everyone in the band, except for maybe the vocals, are incredibly talented.

I think people are looking WAY too far into a cover. If A7X were really concerned about credibility, they wouldn't be in every other guitar ad, they wouldn't worry so much about their near-uniforms on stage, and dozens of other cred-destroying things they do.

For every person who respects them for covering Pantera, there will be a person who thinks it's an insult to them. I think just MAYBE what they did was cover a song by a band they really like... end of story.

I'm writing way too much about a band I don't even have that much interest in.

well apparently pantera songs had to much feeling and emotion for its fans if some clown comes on stage and shoots dimebag. i think a7x took the safer road and are better off fake and on trl because apparently there are screwed up people out there that go way to crazy and hardcore for bands that put feeling and connect with its fans.

just one comment, because i happen to really like avenged....

but, if you have a problem with city of evil vs old stuff....you can't really go there. The lead singer can't really scream anymore. He had throat surgery and the singing is much less stressful on his throat. Not only that, have you ever taken a listen to city of evil? i would say that bat country is the only radio friendly song on that album...otherwise, I can't imagine the other songs being played. just my opinion.
