Overall, I don't know about standout tracks. The one minus to TS is they sound the same in almost every song but this album shows variety.

There's a bit of rapping (done by a pro). I wouldn't be surprised if it got old fast but as for immediate reaction to it, it's amazing.

someone on this site really needs to do an in depth review of this album. I keep trying to write it but im just way too biased. its the best album I've heard all year. some people just wont get it and thats a shame, jerry's lyrical capability is just so enchanting, he pieces words together that shouldnt work but they do, the whole thing ebbs and flows perfectly. the associations and layers, the childlike honesty of it all is simply striking.
I hope this album gets this band huge. they deserve it. They really are a diamond in the rough.

I just feel bad for anyone who's ever left jerry a message. cause they're bound to be in a song of his sooner or later.

I wish I could simply reccommend a song that would properly lay out the dynamic of the Trophy Scars fromt his album. its just.. if its out of context then its grasping at straws. theres a couple tracks that are slightly more "mainstream" for lack of a better term.

Those are probably the easier to swallow to introduce an "average listener" to the world of the Scars.

Some people are better off starting with their earlier EP's. Some people just cant appreciate it. but at least theres people out there giving it a chance. its like.. telling people obsessed with Catcher in the Rye to read some Kerouac and Vonnegut, or Dostoevsky. I dunno.. The elements are there, they're just deeper and layered and more compelling and rewarding.

has everyone...absolutely everyone here taken the time to listen to this album yet? or at least parts of it?

A lot of people have a problem with the vocals apparently. maybe its an acquired taste to some? listen to WHATS being said more than how its sung. Theres a level of sophistication in Jerry's writing style thats not common in a lot of music nowadays. its not just class, its literrary style.
some things are fairly moderate but sometimes the man pelts out some lyrics that are so profound it escapes you until you happen to mutter the words outloud and stop dead in your tracks.

I know that the new mars volta album will no doubt take my number one place for albums of the year. but this already has its spot tightly secured as No.2. The more you listen the more you uncover the layers that are piled into this album, and the harder it is to shake.
Im so glad that people are finally talking about this band like they are. they deserve so much. If its not your cup of tea, pass it on to a friend....they might just love you for life.

I was a fan of Hospital Music more so than this, but the album does have some good songs. My favorites are Anxiety Anxieties, and then alchemist alchemists.

Great album for sure. Darts to the Sea is still my favorite of theirs, and the death scene is re-releasing it! ^_^
