shaant at least seems like probably the nicest person i have met of any band. parker case is rediculously friendly and nice also but shaant introduced himself to me at bamboozle and was very outgoing and nice although it was probably because i was in line for a shirt. they don't deserve all the hype they have gotten but they are catchy as hell and the way i see it i'd rather hear them on MTV then ashlee simpson and ne-Yo

Listening to the stuff on Purevolume (I haven't heard anything else from the upcoming album), it's catchy. Nothing groundbreaking by a long shot, but I imagine they're fun in concert (I'll know tonight--seeing them with Jack's Mannequin and Monty Are I). The choruses seem to try to be a bit too (pardon the pun) cute, but they're infectious. We shall see...

Proabley so, it's the "in thing" with FBR bands (Not bashing them, but it's true). You've got William Beckett, Pete Wentz, and Brenden from Panic doing it, and Cute are just imitating them.

I've had the oppurtunity to meet and hang with Shaant twice; one of those times was this past w/e at HFStival where we were chillin' pretty much all day. Now I've heard all the rumors and we even discussed a good amount of them and (maybe it's 'cause I'm "Jared from AP" and he can't risk being a dick to me) I honestly feel that he's an honest, sincere, good kid. He realizes his band isn't groundbreaking, that they're not going to be for everyone, and so forth. He's just 19, doing what he loves, having fun and is fortunate to be in the position he is in. Like I said, maybe it's 'cause I'm Jared from AP, but I'm a pretty good judge of character and was by no means rubbed the wrong way by him. Until I'm proven wrong, from what I've seen and noticed, I like the guy and wish him and his band the best of luck. Hopefully he can answer some of these questions as I feel a person is a lot more respectable and honorable if they can address rumors and state their case with legit answers, sincere and genuinie thought, etc.

I enjoy listening to this band sometimes. And who cares if they are not original. If you only wanted to listen to original music, you would only be able to listen to maybe 10 bands. Everything is copied. I agree that they are not the best band. But the main reason people hate this band is because of the first impression thier name gives off. Cute Is What We Aim for is an incredibly rediculous name, and alot of people judged the band right off the bat because of it. ditto. this band is better live than people give them credit for. theyre all really nice dudes doing what they want. they know how fortunate they are to be where they are and have the people on their team. there are few bands that have ground breaking music these days, cuz hey, you can't reinvent the wheel. theyre just doing their thing and theyre doing a damn good job at brushing off the haters and keeping a level head at it

i'm happy to say i'm friends with jeff and when he introduced me shaant (back in the cherrybing days) shaant was sooo nice, down to earth guy. we talked about things like music, life, etc. never have i seen him act cocky.

I'm too lazy to quote it, but what Jared said is really the vibe I got from Shaant tonight. Due to time constraints and a couple other interviews, we didn't really get the time to do the interview--so I'm going to e-mail or phone him before they go back out on tour to take care of it. We talked for about forty-five minutes to an hour; he's definitely bummed by the shit they get, but he seems willing to answer my interview questions (many of them which were asked by Jason and others, which I reworded some). So I have a couple extra days to continue compiling questions and refining them a bit. I'm not going to ask disrespectful questions like, "Why are you mediocre?" but I'm not going to throw them softballs on a lot of the topics you guys asked about. They will get to the point and ask a majority of what you want to know.

As far as their performance, they were decent. Vocally, it seemed like Shaant was mumbling some, but part of that is because I really don't know the words to their songs. The crowd wasn't completely feeling them, but the overwhelming amount of people were there solely for Jack's Mannequin so I didn't expect a huge reaction.

Cute isn't that bad, this is no different than any other band putting out a pop-punk album. That said, this is nothing great, either. It's like they write a list of random lyrics that are somewhat "clever" and then mash them into a song wherever they can, with no rhyme or reason to placement or context. I half expect a "and I take a sip of my water" to show up somewhere.

Srsly, you guys should thank them, they at least break up the monotony around here. Are we happy only having Hawthorne Heights, Senses Fail, and Pete Wentz as our whipping boys? I don't think so.

anyhow, to be honest i hadn't ever really listened to the band...i was curious in checking them out but acceptance > cute is what we aim for at bamboozle so i didn't. one of my friends really really wanted to go see them when they were playing some shows out here so we did. to be honest i wasn't horribly impressed with their songs, the sound, etc. etc. but shaant had a good presence on-stage and he was incredibly nice afterwards. we ended up seeing jack's mannequin a few short days later and it was the same thing; mediocre performance good stage presence and nice dudes. but the bottom line is they're doing what they want to do you don't have to like it you don't have to agree with it, yeah i don't dig them too much musically either but it's not really a reason to hate them. just let them live and let be. just my opinion though.

personally after reading all the comments on this situation,
it seems to me as though fred was being sarcastic when saying that his parents gave them money. I knew the band when they first started up and i saw them live when they were touring,( driving a small, makeshift van, pulling a small trailer. I had to the chance to hang out with the members of the band that night and i really thought alot of them and still do. As to how much you like their music, thats an opinion and in my opinion i happen to love it. With all this being said, some of the things said by fred were not right, however i think that Tate wanted when he asked those questions for something to become of this simply because he doesnt like the band. I know for a fact cute didnt just Arise on the music scene...They toured at small venues the whole last summer with local bands and dave melillo.
