View Full Version : Am I the Only One Who Thinks 2006 Has Sucked For Releases So Far????

Seriously, this year has been a major disappointment. Nothing has really come out and kicked the shit out my ears so far unlike 2005 which I though was a very Very solid year for releases. Is the good stuff still to come or am I insane?

Full Collapse was good, but their album is defintely on the list of disappointments this year. I;m holding out hope for Sparta, Deftones, and maybe Isis

There have been a couple CDs I've liked, but nothing really I've been like "OMG this is the best thing ever!". The new AFI comes close (which surprises me, because I'm not huge on AFI), but not totally.
The two CDs I'm most looking forwards to this year come out in June, so my year is going to start looking up.

The new Architects and new Mono are both awesome. But they're the only releases I reckon I'll still be listening to in 2 years time out of everything I've heard from this year.

It's a weak year with several cds that will be remembered for years, or appreciated for a long time.

i think the opposite. i couldn't even put together a top 10 list for 2005 cause there weren't enough releases i felt were top 10 worthy.
this year already has more stuff worth raving about than last year and we're barely halfway through.
boysetsfire, moneen, saves the day, the wreckers and thursday are all very solid cds that i'll be listening to for a long time.
i think my only real disappointments so far were punchline, snow patrol and afi.

dog problems is the best album released so far this year. Only the new gatsbys may top it. period

CD's that I would qualify as being solid, out of what I've purchaced so far this year:
Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
Belle & Sebastian - The Life Pursuit
Bouncing Souls - The Gold Record
Built to Spill - You in Reverse
Drive By Truckers - A Blessing and a Curse
The Elected - Sun, Sun, Sun
The Format - Dog Problems
Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins - Rabbit Furcoat
The Lawrence Arms - Oh! Calcutta!
The Loved Ones - Keep Your Heart
Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings the Flood
The Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium
So to answer your question, yes you are. You need to expand your horizons, or at least look harder.

I see what you have liked and most of that stuff I thought was gabrage. Chili's, Arctic Monkeys, Larry Arms, Built to Spill, Bonucing Souls. All stuff I was disappointed with. Even new Tool let me down. I hope the new Cursive, Blood Brothers, Deftones, and Sparta are good.

I think last year was a much more solid year, you had:
The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute
Tera Melos - Self Titled
EmptySelf - Self Titled
The Receiving End of Sirens - Between the Heart and the Synapse
The Fall of Troy - Doppelganger
Finch - Say Hello to Sunshine (Flame me if you must)
Dear and the Headlights - Demo cd's 1 & 2
As Cities Burn - Son, I Loved You at Your Darkest
Minus the Bear - Menos El Oso
Cave-in - Perfect Pitch Black
Day For Airstrikes - Secret Whale
I Am The Pilot - The Mission EP
Zeemo - Dreams of Eden
Scary Kids Scaring Kids - The City Sleeps in Flames
The Dear Hunter - Dear Ms. Leading
Socratic - Lunch For the Sky
Stretch Arm Strong - Free at Last
Team sleep - Self Titled
I just think 2005 was a much more solid year. There is still time left though you are right and hopefully things will start looking up.

If anyone other than Finch had put out that exact same record they wouldnt have gotten half as much shit and the reviews would have been much more positive.
If Glassjaw had put that album out nobody would be complaining. Stretch was a good pop punk album. Even your glorious AP agrees with me

and i believe this a "typical moronic thread" that YOU started. just because you don't like the releases this year you feel the need to attack people that do? i just wanted to make a point the music you like isn't any better or has less talent than stuff that has already came out this year.

I never said "if you like 2006 better u are a tard" nor did I say either years artists had more or less talent. I think Tool is the best band of all I mentioned there and theirs is a 2006 release. It may have sucked mroe than some, but I will never knock Tool's talents. Ge a grip dude, this isnt an argument over talent or an attack on someones musical tastes.

your thread title is attacking people's taste that actually enjoyed bands that had releases this year so far, and you basically saying blah blah bloo blah blah blah blah 2006 sucked this year so far blah blah blah blah, well thats letting people that LIKED releases so far this year feel attacked, and will make fun of you for being stupid and not knowing how to spell.

You feel attacked because you are a little man who doesnt know how to discuss things so you instantly turn ot a defensive nature. If you like 2006 cool, buy I prefer last year. Jeez, this site has the biggest bunch of pussies who love to attack the minute someone says something they disagree with.

pathetic. i didn't make this thread to cry about music and you attacked releases so far this year, im just defending them. pretty simple. i'm not the one getting tough on the internet like you, it's just a matter of opinion, your music differs from many others, and your're shitting bricks and posting threads about it.

2006 dominates 2005. Anathallo, Murder by Death, Envy, Appleseed Cast, Armalite, Dragonforce, The Elected, Russian Circles, Woods, and loads of splits and 7" stuff, and the year isn't half way over. Fuck '05.
i think 06 has been a dream so far. thursday, moneen, saves the day, trophy scars, underoath, cursive, the hush sound, 36crazyfists, the format, taking back sunday, dead to fall, protest the hero, tool, afi, youinseries; all those were great and those were only the ones i've heard and that i can remember. also looking forward to the new billy talent, showbread, ASL, and TEN. ones that should be coming out but i'm not sure wwhen: saosin, alexisonfire, it dies today, spitalfield
