I'm sick of hearing people portray the French as cowards. Do you bastards know that the majority of the fighting done on the ALlied side in WW1 was by the french? 1.4 million french soldiers died in that war, which is more than EVERY AMERICAN SOLDIER LOST IN EVERY WAR IN HISTORY, INCLUDING THE CIVIL WAR, COMBINED. And they are "cowards"?

The reason France was relatively uninvolved in military conflict for the rest of the century was because they had to fucking reproduce. They lost an entire generation of young men - they had no military. Yet they still played a crucial part in supplying the allies in WW2 with food and equipment.

Also, the French embassy has stated that had the US been able to prove their case against Iraq, they might have given their support, they only vetoed because they felt the whole thing was beinf rushed thru with no proof. and they were damn right too. So far the US has found NO wmd's, the closest is a few "suspicious" petrochemical plants (in an oil based economy? NEVER!) and pesticide plants (god forbid they have DDT!) If we had proven our damn point and notr just relied on fear tactics than the French would ahve helped us.

And to the House of Reps, dont be such dicks, the fucking Belgians invented french fries.

Yeah? Well your grandfather can suck his own cock. The french were lucky to have a damn army because the vast majority of french men were literally underground people at the time.

And to the other guy, the mass amounts of french casualties in ww1 werent due to incompetence. ww1 killed many people because it was the first industrialized war, and the trench combat was horiffic. also, the eastern front was right up against france, so they were constantly fighting to save their own land, not to spread imperialist policy like our country.

Really? Because my history book says that the Allies won both WW1 and WW2! ANd the majority of WW1 was fought by the French.

And btw, you owe your fucking independence to the French. They are our first ally. The vast majority of vicories in the Revolutionary War were won by French forces. The US would have been MASSACARED without their help.

They did help, and may have ultimately won us the war (but I doubt it). Either way, we more than made up for whatever they did when we won two World Wars for them.

Both of you crack a goddammed textbook once in awhile. Any historian will tell you that the USA could never have defeated the British with the ragtag army that Washington had, The only major victory ever really accredited to the Continental Army is Saratoga, and it is only considered a major victory because it showed we were a semi-cabaple nation, thus winning us France's support.

Also, we did not "win" two world wars. In both circumstances we sat fat, dumb and happy with our isolationist policy until the end of the war. And in both cases we may have "tipped the scale" or helped end it faster, but we could not have done it on or own, whereas it could have been done without us.

THE POINT is that the French have been with us since the beggining, and are every bit as valiant in battle as the United States in warfare, if not more so. Offhand French bashing is innapropriate, and ignorant, and it does not make you more patriotic to hate a nation that was instrumental in the founding of our own.

you can thank the french military for the vietnam war, as well as the massacres in Cambodia, that was their fault, as well as the revolts and massacres in the Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone.

I think its you that needs to "crack" your history book. Although WW1 may or may not have been won with out us, WWII would have been a loss, and only an idiot would say other wise. When we came in Britian was well on its way to surrender, Africa was lost, France had already started a Nazis Back government, Russia was caving in and would have lost if the Nazis hadn't had two fronts going (USA) on. Japan on the other hand had conquered most of china and southern asia, and most likely would have gone in to Austriala or taken Russia from behind, but again someone steped into stop them.

So to say that WWII could have been won with out us is really kind of a joke.
