I figured everyone was curious to their answers. So I posted them below. Oh, and I answered his question for me in italics.
Yes, our parents actually did write us a check for $500,000 and said "Go start a band!"

We fired him because he was posting myspace bulletins about our friends bands, saying how shitty they were. I still talk to him, we hang out occasionally. He also assumed we were going to fire him once we inked.

We kicked Chris out because he lived 45 minutes away and never came to practice. It just wasnt working, he understood. We're all still extremely close friends with Chris.

No, Squire did not lock us out of the studio.

We've had the same image from the day we started.

Yes, we think we're extremely clever.

Very little autotune is used. It wasn't necessary.

No, we dont think we deserve what we have. We're extremely lucky, and we know that.

Now for my question...
Where the fuck do you come off? I'm 17 years old, and am in a signed band, touring and living out my dream, and I come to this website and see some asshole constantly making unnecessary comments. I don't appreciate it. You sit behind a computer all day, Tate. You're not special, you're not cool. You are CERTAINLY not better than any band that is posted on this website. So stop picking on a 17 year olds band, what are you, like 35? Get a fucking life.

How is your last statement really a question? I see two question marks, and so I'll address them both. Where do I come off? Well, I have a personal opinion. That's where I come off. I may be wrong to think this but I don't agree with how your band isn't honest with your intentions about what your band is: a way to make money. I'm fine with bands selling-out, 100% okay with it, but what I don't like is bands that pretend to be "indie" or stay "scene" and hide behind this guise when it's obvious they have other intentions. That's where I "come off" - I think your album sucks, I think your image is manufactured, and I think you try to hard to be everything you'll never be. If you want to be the next Click Five, that's fine - but at least be honest with all the kids you're trying manipulate. That's where my problem lies. Second answer, I'm 23, not 35. And when I was 17, I didn't have half-a-million dollars. I'm 23 and don't have 1/4th of 1/2 a million dollars. The difference here, my friend, is that I don't think I'm "special" or "cool" - I'm just me. However, what I do have going for me is that I don't need my record label to tell me who to be or parents to buy me my dreams.

P.S. I heard from a direct source that Shannt was locked out of the studio. Auto-tune most certainly was necessary (and used) for the vocals on this album - a) I can hear it on those horrendous layered background vocals, b) It still sounds off.

I don't know about all this drama though, I don't know how they acted like a DIY organization or how they would have just come out and said they took 500k, because they would have looked terrible. They are running a business of their own.

that's because the charts are calculated based on how many users listen to a certain artist, no how many times the songs were played...haha. so your 23,000 plays counted as 1, because you listened to the ataris that week you got 1 point for the group. heh.

Where the fuck do you come off? I'm 17 years old, and am in a signed band, touring and living out my dream, and I come to this website and see some asshole constantly making unnecessary comments. I don't appreciate it. You sit behind a computer all day, Tate. You're not special, you're not cool. You are CERTAINLY not better than any band that is posted on this website. So stop picking on a 17 year olds band, what are you, like 35? Get a fucking life.

How is your last statement really a question? I see two question marks, and so I'll address them both. Where do I come off? Well, I have a personal opinion. That's where I come off. I may be wrong to think this but I don't agree with how your band isn't honest with your intentions about what your band is: a way to make money. I'm fine with bands selling-out, 100% okay with it, but what I don't like is bands that pretend to be "indie" or stay "scene" and hide behind this guise when it's obvious they have other intentions. That's where I "come off" - I think your album sucks, I think your image is manufactured, and I think you try to hard to be everything you'll never be. If you want to be the next Click Five, that's fine - but at least be honest with all the kids you're trying manipulate. That's where my problem lies. Second answer, I'm 23, not 35. And when I was 17, I didn't have half-a-million dollars. I'm 23 and don't have 1/4th of 1/2 a million dollars. The difference here, my friend, is that I don't think I'm "special" or "cool" - I'm just me. However, what I do have going for me is that I don't need my record label to tell me who to be or parents to buy me my dreams.

P.S. I heard from a direct source that Shannt was locked out of the studio. Auto-tune most certainly was necessary (and used) for the vocals on this album - a) I can hear it on those horrendous layered background vocals, b) It still sounds off.

Of course you can buy fans. Kids are so impressionable, think of what 500k gets you. coming from buffalo, i think it was obvious this band thrives on drama (no pun with the lyrics). i am not shit talking them by any means, but publicity is publicity. they got huge locally only after a few months of being a band, due to drama and hype. it just seems like its the same thing now, but on a national scale.

What i do not understand is why they signed in the first place. Advances are entirely recoupable, meaning the label is essense paying you early for money they hope you make later on album sales.

This band probably had between a 15-30K budget for this record, is not getting much of tour support.

Their album is not even out yet, meaning unless they got an advance, whicih FBR DOES NOT DO, they are sitting on the huge sum of money mom and dad gave them.


WHY DID THEY SIGN! They are essentially paying the label to put out their records, as the band already has MORE MONEY then the label can realistically provide all of its bands combined.

WHY DID THEY SIGN!? Why didn't they do smart shit like start a publishing company? Why didn't they self release and record an album and start their own label, which 500,000 Dollars in more than sufficient to allow for that to happen.

Such is the case of being seventeen and having stars in your eyes.

How is your last statement really a question? I see two question marks, and so I'll address them both. Where do I come off? Well, I have a personal opinion. That's where I come off. I may be wrong to think this but I don't agree with how your band isn't honest with your intentions about what your band is: a way to make money. I'm fine with bands selling-out, 100% okay with it, but what I don't like is bands that pretend to be "indie" or stay "scene" and hide behind this guise when it's obvious they have other intentions. That's where I "come off" - I think your album sucks, I think your image is manufactured, and I think you try to hard to be everything you'll never be. If you want to be the next Click Five, that's fine - but at least be honest with all the kids you're trying manipulate. That's where my problem lies. Second answer, I'm 23, not 35. And when I was 17, I didn't have half-a-million dollars. I'm 23 and don't have 1/4th of 1/2 a million dollars. The difference here, my friend, is that I don't think I'm "special" or "cool" - I'm just me. However, what I do have going for me is that I don't need my record label to tell me who to be or parents to buy me my dreams.

P.S. I heard from a direct source that Shannt was locked out of the studio. Auto-tune most certainly was necessary (and used) for the vocals on this album - a) I can hear it on those horrendous layered background vocals, b) It still sounds off.

But my question is why use all that money to start a band, and not invest it in real estate or the stock market. These guys really act their age.

I am not from the immediate area, however, I live roughly about an hour and a half away. I had honestly never heard of this band until the news posts started popping up on AP.net. I do not believe it Jason, but that doesn't really matter. I go to shows constantly in Buffalo and not once did I ever see or hear of ciwwaf. Odd? I think so. The simple fact is that at one point almost everyone on this site was a ciwwaf fanboi. Now, it appears everyone has grown tired of the generic tunes. I will honestly admit that I have only listened to this band once, and it was the initial demos. but all of my friends in Buffalo seem to share the same sour taste in their mouth over this band. it's looks like a lot of people posting here are more jealous than anything. just because your favorite band started with nothing doesnt mean anything. you rule them out because they are rich, who cares. The fact that they like making music is good enough for me and was probably good enough for the labels interested in them. You can promote the shit out of your band and make it known but as far as people liking and buying the record, probably not going to happen. do you ever really see people saying "Look that band is really rich i'm going to buy their album!" no you dont.
