Figured the pop forum needed a thread to discuss it...and, while it's here, what are your thoughts on CIWWAF?

Personally...I am with Jason with this one, especially coming off a time where the Hush Sound, Format, and Quietdrive have all done awesome things in the genre, these guys look like a generic mistake.

i said it once before, their demos were entertaining and so was the curse of curves song. nothing ground breaking obviously, but fun pop tunes. to me they have always seemed like posers and all that jazz that has always gone around. i was told by several people that know them personally that it was all lies. but after reading this im pretty sure the rumors are true.

I thought cartel signed to Epic because they were nice people, do you think MONEY was involved... oh yea and the #1 listened to band last week in the ap.net last.fm group taking back sunday, WARNER, they were on victory, now they're on warner. hmm money? i never see bands switching labels to a less heard of label when they get big - its because the music industry is based around money as much as you all don't want to admit it. CIWWAF plays the same music that you want to hear, they are in highschool, and you all idolized them until tate says he doesnt like them. i hope somebody changes their opinion and starts to think for themselves instead of agreeing with headmaster tate on every post.

I haven't found anything to interest me in their music. It sounds generic, unmotivated, and unemotional to me. And I prefer bands that sound like they have an attachment to their music.

They put on a half-decent show when I saw them, and that actually took me by surprise.

I've heard from multiple sources (not just here) that they're a bunch of spoiled brats who act like they're better than everyone else. And to me, the way a band treats their fans is the final key. I can't get behind a band that acts like that, no matter what the music is like.

The name is grammatically incorrect...and terrible. Not only does it end in a preposition, it ends any credibility they could have had.

Add in sub-par lyrics, a mediocre voice, and the same formulaic style that is killing regular pop-punk, and you have a band I hate now.

Wrong, the music is bastard child of any pop-punk ablum released in the last 5 years. It takes no, and I repeat, no chances at being original.

His voice hurts at points, he can't consistently hold his notes, and they aren't in tune even more often.

I mean, I feel bad ripping them apart, but when you can't realize all their flaws (and there are quite a few), I have to point them out.

If you're from Buffalo, go find Damiera...there is original music, with a great voice, and an even better live show. Leave this Cute stuff in the dust

that's the problem, they sound exactly like every other regular pop-punk band, but they don't have a great voice (Cartel), great lyrics (many I could list), or great musicians (GAD, etc) to set them apart in any way.

They are lost in the crowd of what was acceptable three years ago...but pop-punk needs to not rely on the same bullshit formulas all the time...because major labels are realizing all they need is a frontman/woman and they can copy their success.
