coraline, jonas bros., the final destination, just to name a few... do you think the new trend of 3-d movies is cool or completely unnecessary?

no, really, which of these three bands whose names all start with the letter "d" do you think is the best?

Death Cab is clearly superior to all of these bands.

if 3d is used to enhance a film than it can be pretty cool like when I seen Up it didn't need to be in 3D to be an awesome movie it just was. But films that exist just for 3D effects suck. Take that my Bloody Valentine.

Also Death Cab for Cutie

Death Cab.
And for the record, I loved Coraline.

it was a visual masterpiece, but i felt they didn't do the story much justice, being a fan of the original book and all. as i recall, too much was implied and would've gone over people's heads if they had not read the book. it's been a while since i've seen it, so i can't dig up any details, but i remember feeling that way.

the only other recent movie i saw in 3d was 9, and that as well was a visual masterpiece that was just a little bit lacking in the story, but since it wasn't an adaption, i can't really hold it up to the same standard.

i really love what they did in those movies in particular, though, using 3d for atmospheric rather than shock purposes. so all in all, as long as they can have 3d movies without sacrificing good storytelling, then i'm all for it.

Never read the book. I thought I understood the story well at the time, though. And the animation looked incredible.

it's like some of the harry potter movies. i watched the movies without reading the books and thought i understood them just fine. now i'm reading the books and i realize that i missed out on so much, even though the movies basically got the gist of what was going on.

the only movie i can think of that didn't leave out a lot from the book it was adapted from is fight club, which actually turned out even better than the book. well, at least the ending, anyway. they're kinda just the same.

I read the HP books before seeing the movie(s), so I understand what you mean. I probably won't get around to reading Coraline though, I'm not much of a reading person anymore. Too busy with other things.

Hahahahaha Death Cab.... Really? Don't get me wrong Death Cab is great, but musically they are nothing compared to The Dear Hunter or The The Decemberists.

n00b.

6 posts and you joined a year ago? wtf.

yeah, i was pretty surprised by the results, too, but i think it's mostly because death cab is just more popular than the other two. i don't remember ever hearing the dear hunter or the decemberists on my local rock radio station.

nice coheed avatar btw.

Hard choice. Went with DCFC but TDH is really equal, imo.

Yeah, Narrow Stairs was a huge letdown for me. Don't know about in general, though.

I chose Death Cab For Cutie.

Haven't heard The Dear Hunter, don't listen much to the Decemberists (but don't mind them) and love Death Cab's work (minus their most recent effort) so I voted for Death Cab.

i think mostly everyone else who voted for death cab is somewhat like that. i didn't really indicate on the poll best or favorite, so i guess it just shows that death cab is the most popular of the three on this site.

Funny, I was just listening to The Dear Hunter when I saw this poll. Act II is one of my favorite albums.
