I don't know what to think about this album. The inner child in me says to love it because it was the first album I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish, and was a good pop-punk album at the least before they sold out. The AP.net in me says they're sell outs and don't deserve a thread.
Thoughts?

not letting yourself like something because other people don't like it is the dumbest thing in the world. seasons is a jam, as is the click.

seasons is indeed a jam. there are a couple songs off that album that are deesh, as ive found with most of their work. theres always one or two tracks i can get behind, its just as a whole they are horrible.

The thing is, Good Charlotte is better than their later work. Unfortunately, because of their last two albums, their earlier material is (arguably) better than them.
And those first and second albums of theirs are still very solid stuff, overall.

Years and years ago before they started releasing shitty music, I liked that album. But I can't listen to that or the next album because of disliking everything they've done since.

My friend and I bought that album right after I was dumped in the mall in...a shoe store I believe. Haha. Memoriesss. But we played the shit out of that cd. One time for your mind your body and your soul everytime that I rhyme you know I'm in control alright, here we go...
I still love their second album, I don't care how much everyone else hates it. I think it's good, although I did have to delete Boys and Girls and Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous because I hate them.

Same, the second for me was far better.
Young And Hopeless was a good album.
It's not something I'll listen to out of choice anymore, but if it comes on when my ipod is on shuffle or something I won't skip it.

That CD holds so many good memories for me. As much as I hate to admit it, GC was one of my musical "gateway drugs." Not all the tracks are great, but I can't hate it.

"East Coast Anthem" was my jam for awhile. Good Charlotte was a good band, it kind of bummed me out to see them change so much for the worse.
i lovedddd the first 2 albums. and after that it went downhill....

it's a shame this band let their innate douchiness shine through on their later albums

I agree that their last two records weren't as good, but how the hell are anyone in this band "douchebags"? How is their regression canonized by their alleged douchebaggery?

Really don't think having children with Nicole Richie makes one a douche. Besides, that was after Good Morning Revival was written, recorded, and released, so I don't see what this has to do with anything.
And I really can't get into the idea of them being d-bags when I hear about stuff like this.

Good Charlotte is everything that's wrong with this music scene. Not the band itself, but the drivel that comes out of peoples mouths while discussing them. All four of their CDs have been at least solid, yet everyone loves to talk shit about them because 'my little sister is into them'. They sit there and go on and on and on and on and on about how GC isn't punk because they 'sold out' are on a 'major', or whatever their catchphrase is, meanwhile half the bands the listen to make just as average/below average music as the worst GC album, and are on labels just as big as the one GC is on. No one gives these guys a chance, and it's a shame, because they are at least enjoyable.

Not annoyed. More confused than anything else.
Dude, you essentially just admitted right there you barely know crap about her outside of what tabloids (whom no one knows for their 100 % accuracy) have to say. Even though just before that, you said (as if it were factual information) that anyone going out with/raising children with Nicole is automatically a douche. You can't just change what you just said.
Plus, the whole "don't get so annoyed over stupid posting" won't save you. You can't just spout off something factually wrong, and then try to put down those who correct you. But yeah, let's just end this and call it a draw. I've got The Big Bang Theory to watch.

I can make any judgments I want based on any information I want. It might not be "factually correct", but it's my right as an American to judge based on a complete lack of subject knowledge.

really though, I started to dislike Good Charlotte (picked up their first three CDs) when their group persona started to take on a more thug/crunk hip-hop atmosphere. they always wore starter caps and stuff like that, but i felt like whenever i watched them on tv they were wearing chains and hanging with crappy rappers, and it made me lose respect for them as a band because i have this idea in my head that a respectable band doesn't associate with unartistic people like that. then they made a really bad fourth cd that i listened to three tracks of before realizing that their total embrace of hip-hop culture had ruined their ability to make catchy songs, and there was nothing left of the band for me to like.

Crappy rappers? You better not be talking about The Game.
Anyway, I really don't understand how wearing some stuff like chains ought to take from the music (at least, any more from what they wore back in the Y+ H days). And when you say "unartistic people" do you mean really bad rap artists or rappers in general? Regardless, them (which is moreso the twins than the entire band, really) associating with some less than credible artists shouldn't (and DOESN'T) take away from their body of work, nor does one not-so-good album. You know Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio offered to do a song with none other than Jeffree Star? I thought that was weird as hell, but that doesn't mean fans of the Trio should give up on them and their body of work. No offense, dude, but if you lose respect for a band because of what they wear or who they opt to hang out with, well, how much is your respect really worth?
I'm just as disappointed in Good Morning Revival as anyone, but that doesn't mean I just assume that there's nothing left for me to like in the band.

matt skiba offering to do a song with jeffree star isn't equivalent to good charlotte completely changing their style of music to match their growing hip-hop cred.
i don't think that it takes away from their previous body of work; i still enjoy their first albums about the same as i did before. i might not listen to them as often, but the music hasn't changed. i lost respect for that band because they allowed the circles they were traveling in to completely dictate their fourth album's sound, which would be fine if the album turned out even remotely good/interesting. with 'good morning revival' good charlotte turned into a parody of themselves, amplifying their clothing choices louder than their music.

I'm not really frustrated over you calling them douches or anything, I just find that weird. By that logic, many many bands that have gotten worse over time are douchebags.

Aren't they from a poor neighborhood in Maryland? It's not like they wouldn't have been exposed to hip hop. There's even hip hop leanings in the self-titled. Go listen to Little Things, that's got shout-outs and crap like that, the little spoken lines, there's definitely hip-hop influence there.

I will say, they are worth seeing live. My aunt and uncle are the 'cool' members of the family, and they love GC, and they were going to their concert with their two kids, but one of them didn't want to go, so they gave me my cousins ticket. It was a pretty awesome show, those guys know how to entertain, and they play songs from their entire catalog. It may actually shift your views on the band a bit.

there's nothing wrong with being influenced by things, but when you completely change your music to fit into a rap stereotype (cars and bling and clothing label shoutouts) i'm going to call you out on it. their fourth cd was drastically different from their first three
