At last nights Alkaline Trio (http://www.absolutepunk.net/artists/showlink.php?do=showdetails&l=1750) show at the grove in Anaheim they announced they will be taking a while off to rest from touring and then will be writing a new album.
They played the entired Goddamnit album followed by a acoustic set and then a set consiting mostly of newer songs ending with "Radio."

It's nice they put out so many records, but why don't they stop putting out a record a year and start putting out a good record a year.
I wanted to go see this show, but I was pissed off that Against Me! was dropping off the tour before it hit Seattle. So I didn't go out of spite. Haha.

Besides the Civic Tour, I think this is the my favorite tour I've ever seen.
Thats great that they are doing another CD. Crimson was absolutely amazing. Weren't there plans to re-record Goddammit? And what about a DVD?
Either way, any Trio news is good Trio news.

Not a lot a of people liked Crimson as much as I do.
And I'm certain no one liked Good Mourning as much as I do, it may be my favorite record of theirs. Yeah, I'm serious.

You mean The Civic Tour that featured The Get Up Kids/Head Automatica/Thrice/Dashboard Confessional?
If so TGUK were the best band and got screwed regarding set times.

So if I gave you trio news saying they broke up? Or the band got beaten up?

Good Mourning is an amazing album
how could anyone not like it?
the lyrics were weaker, matts voice struggled, the songs didnt flow together, there were obvious filler tracks. even the band themselves werent too fond of it. I still like it, its just definitly weaker trio material. i think crimson blows it away.
Radio is an absolutely amazing song!

seriously, --- it sounded cool in a way in parts, but it also lost alot of emotion.

yeah, that was a great tour. I love Crimson as much as I love their first few CDs. I think my fav of theirs is From Here To Infirmary, but I love Good mourning a lot as well.
Basically, they will always be my favorite and and they have only written one bad song.
They where filming for a dvd in NE of this tour. So I think maybe a dvd will be a winter release

i absolutley cant stand good mourning. crimson in my eyes is an improvement but from here to infirmary is my favorite or g-dammit, g-dammit kind've reminds me of jawbreaker :)! that must've been one hell of a show to see them perform that whole cd. go them!! :)
Every album this band has put out is gold. I doubt they'd ever actually re-record any old stuff, although Dan has said before that he'd like to rerecord I Lied My Face Off because he hates how his voice sounds on the original. Also, according to an interview Matt did with an Australian radio station a while back, Danzig is apparently involved with some new Trio material, be interesting to see how that comes out.

Every record by Alkaline Trio is solid. They can do no wrong in my eyes.

I wish AK3 would pull a Outkast on us and release a double album, one with Matt Skiba singing, and the other with Dan Andriano singing. all Alkaline Trio songs are money. except for Lucretia My Reflection.

for some reason i just never got that into crimson
goddamnit > s/t > maybe ill catch fire > from here to infirmary > good mourning > split with hot water music > split w/ one man army > crimson
in my opinion

The Anaheim show was one of Alkaline Trio's best ever. I saw the Occult Roots tour in Vegas as well and this one was even better. They were flawless last night. I love how you never know exactly what you are going to get with them. Never have they played even close to the same set at any show I've seen. Below is the set list in almost the right order. Its a bit out of order at the end and Im sure I forgot one or two. Just so many to remember.
1. Cringe
2. Cop
3. San Fransisco
4. Nose Over Tail
5. As You Were
6. Enjoy Your Day(electric)
7. Clavicle
8. My Little Needle
9. Southern Rock
10. Messages From Kathlene
11. Trouble Breathing
**Skiba Acoustic***
12. Sorry About That
13. Blue In The Face
***Dan Acoustic***
14. one from Dan's solo
15. Crawl
***Full Band again...***
16. Good Fucking Bye
17. Back To Hell
18. Maybe I'll Catch Fire
19. Settle For Satin
20. Warbrain
21. Deathbed
22. Mr. Chainsaw
23. My Friend Peter
24. She Took Him To The Lake
25. Burn
26. You've Got So Far To Go
27. This Could Be Love
28. Some Kind of Hate(Misfits)
29. Radio

I'm only jealous of She Took Him To The Lake on that list. And You've Got So Far To Go.

Radio is probably one of their best songs, followed by Cop.

It was just the type of tour that this was. They played for about 2 hours and some change. The only opener was Against Me! (Well, it was when I saw them)

When I saw Dashboard at Chain Reaction he played for over two hours and I know Reel Big Fish is known to do the same. It all just depends on the artist

i've seen rbf and they didn't play that long... was a fairly big show though (3 or 4 bands), so there wasn't as much time. i wish tours like this came to my neighborhood.

I saw this tour in NYC with Against Me! and it was fucking awesome... For 23 bucks or whatever the ticket costed, it was definitely one of the most entertaining and awesome shows... IT's also nice when the band interacts and talks with the fans, makes if much more realistic... Although I might have to say, I would have rathered them do the entire Good Mourning, Goddamnit was played to perfection... Not to mention the intermission when both Matt and Dan did acoustic performances...
Big props to an ever changing band that has stayed loyal to their fans over the years....
