I'll be shocked if a film has better costumes/cinematography this year. Stellar trailer:

Ha I know I was surprised too. I found out 30 minutes into the showing that this had been added to the Chicago Film Festival. Could've seen it two weeks ago if id've known

This looks interesting. Haven't heard too much of it but the cast is great. Good to see Lee Pace in another movie.

It's great to see Colin Firth in a role like this. Hope he gets some recognition.

Sweet. I hope it'll be a wide enough release that I won't have to drive into LA.

I can't wait to see this, I love the shot of him pointing his finger gun like through the window. I also love Lee Pace.

I actually was excited about this just based on the trailer and poster without actually knowing anything about the plot, and when I did finally get around to that ('cause let's be honest, a lot of movies today plot is secondhand and that is often okay) I got about twice as excited. Could be one of the best films of the year.

Also, it's looking like apparently it's limited on the 11th, so it could actually be wide by (or before) Christmas.

This easily has the best trailer that I've seen this year. Tom Ford definitely has an eye for what looks good.

The cast looks excellent as well. Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Lee Pace, Matthew Good, Ginnifer Goodwin, Nicholas Hoult...should be great.

Nah...cinematography's fine in that, nothing special. And what's so special about the costumes? Plus, that's an '08 movie.

One of my most anticipated, but it's only playing in Chicago. I'll wait a couple weeks until it moves out here.

Saw it last night. Fantastic.

I don't think it will be everyone's tastes (it's incredibly [and possibly over-] stylized, to the point it might seem a little excessive), but hot damn what a beautiful movie. It looks like you are looking at a fashion advertisement the whole time (Tom Ford's eye, obviously). The entire cast gives stellar performances, all award-worthy.

I haven't seen better costumes/cinematography/score this year (that I can remember).

The production design was done by the same firm who works on Mad Men, which after seeing it, i'm not surprised.

Highly recommended, and i'd love to hear if anyone else has seen it and their thoughts.

I'm so intrigued by Tom Ford as a director now...

It's too beautiful and too clean. It was a poor style choice for the subject matter.

this movie was not that good. needed more plot, less artsy shots that dragged on.

Isn't he on Skins? I knew he had grown up already. A shocker for me is how tall the kid from Love Actually is now. I saw him in Bright Star and expected him to be one of those short guys. He's still scrawny, but very tall.

He was the kid from About A Boy (edit: whoops, yeah, he was on Skins too!). Day-um, he grew into his looks quite well. And now I feel super creepy because he's probably not 18 yet. (edit2: whew, he's 20)

People keep blowing me off when we have plans to see this.

Ended up seeing it in theaters, much to my delight. I went in expecting to be disappointed and for it to not live up to the hype, but it blew me away. Beautiful, beautiful movie, and Colin Firth was absolutely amazing. Seeing it snubbed at the Golden Globes (and probably the Oscars too, eventually) is so frustrating.

I find it an interesting choice for a debut feature for someone who could of chosen any subject matter to work with. His style doesn't really lend well to the overall subject but nonetheless it's a beautiful film. The film itself was alright; luckily I went in knowing the plot wasn't the reason I wanted to see it.

Also Three Monkeys has the best cinematography/photography of any film in recent history, every single shot could be a photo out of Time Magazine. Enter the Void also does some neat tricks but thats the norm for Noé.

FINALLY saw this movie today. An incredibly fascinating movie. Colin Firth completely destroyed in the movie. One of the better performances I've seen since There Will Be Blood. Tom Ford also surprised me a good bit as a director.

Finally watched this last night. I know I'm way late on this but how did Firth not win the Oscar? Don't get me wrong, I had some problems with the film overall but, wow. Quite the debut from Tom Ford.

Watched this just before Christmas after forgetting about it for far too long. I absolutely loved how it looked, really incredibly. The combination of style, cinematogrpahy and Firth are what made it a winner for me.

I'm even more impressed with the film after watching it with Ford's commentary. He points out these incredibly subtle changes in color and background that I didn't notice the first time around; it makes the movie that much more interesting to watch
