View Full Version : why does no one play LEAD GUITAR in NJ anymore?

seems like all the lead guitarists out here are metalheads..and not the good kind of metal..they listen to this squeeling-crappy double bass work-no real bass line based garbage and call it hardcore_so lame

anyway i play in a band called ONE SHORT FALL. we put out a full length on Kid Tested Records last year& will be recording again soon..you should check us out::::

now if you happen to play lead guitar ( you can solo, play some quick downstrokes, and palm mutes ) and like our steez holler at me.

you made an account to post this? maybe if you played better music the lead guitarists would stop hiding from you.

Yeah I'm sure there isn't a lead guitar player in the entire state of New Jersey. Weird.

so theyre metalheads, but they call all the music they listen to hardcore?

man, you New Jersey kids are weird.

I'm in a poppunk band and the other guitarist is a serious metalhead,

sometimes the variation is good, it means you won't end up sounding the same as everyone else.

I live in north jersey, I think that all the lead guitarists around here turned to metal or hardcore because of the local scene here, the pop-punk/punk rock scene has become garbage, I know at least 3 different people that run local shows and I stopped going simply because the music is terrible, the only band I've seen recently in this scene that was actually pretty good was and band called PRAWN, definitely check them out, but anyways your not gonna find any lead guitarists that aren't influenced by metal because all the bands that play pop-punk around here don't give a shit about the creativity of the band, they try to be like every other pop-punk band and they wonder why they're not getting signed

I live in South Jersey, and almost all lead guitarists in my area are pop punk influenced... and mix in some Christian Hardcore stuff, too.

its prob because everyone up there is into that pop/punk shit and all they learned how to do on guitar is mimic blink 182.

OH. i thought the NJ was "norma jean". that would have been some intense spam.

I live in Jersey and I honestly have no idea who the big local bands are anymore. There was a time when you could point out the next group of bands that were moving out of the legion halls and into the clubs, but I can't for the life of me figure out who those bands are anymore.

That being said, there's still tons of musicians in NJ, but the scene here is way less interactive than it used to be, which makes it hard to find new people sometimes.

Try The NJScene.com. Maybe you'll find something.

I don't know about north jersey, but I live in philly and am pretty familiar with a lot of the local south jersey bands. I disagree strongly with your generalization.

your statement makes you sound incredibly stupid, btw.

They are weekly shows at a Skater's Choice in Sewell, New Jersey. A few of the bands you listed play there regularly.
