the Tiger's color analyst, Rod Allen, used to be the color guy for Arizona before coming over here. He said in a story once that he never, ever had a contract. And that really outside of the players not many people had contracts, just handshakes and promises. He said that Colangelo (spelling?) would sit you down and talk and negotiate with you and you'd shake his hand and you got however much you two settled on and that was that. real old fashioned my-word-is-good type stuff.

Which has nothing to do with Arizona's current broadcasting team, but whatever.

The Angels have terrible TV announcers. Steve Physioc, our play-by-play announcer, has a good voice, but says some really stupid stuff these days, almost like a robot that has been reprogrammed by the constantly stoned color commentator Rex Hudler.

i have the mlb thing so i'm making a list of how the other announcers in other cities do. so i've got this:

phillies - i grew up on them so i'm biased, but expect a very maddenesque type game. a lot of random talking, but pretty unbiased and to me, very enjoyable.

arizona - awful. i had to turn the game off in the 4th inning because i could't take it.

rockies - awful. i can't remember everything they did, but i remember they did it awful.

mets - tolerable. hernandez likes to blow himself a lot, and i hate the mets, but they're not that bad all said. pretty unbiased.

cincinnati - pretty good actually, i had no quams with them at all.

dodgers - sculley talks a lot, but he's a legend and can paint a picture.

i'll update throughout the year, but i have noticed a lot of the old timers in other cities are in love with david bell. i've heard he's one of the finest ball players out there, a deadly hitter, one of the best fielders in the league, and a gem recently. all of this was news to me.

9:43 spent 90 seconds calling the first out of the game, a neat little running catch by shawn green, a "beautifu"l catch that "robbed" rollins. 99/100 right fielders would have made the catch.

9:44 utley's up...already both strikes against chase have been insanely praised.

9:45 utley's still up...you'd never know...the balls ortiz is throwing are being ignored while they talk about the "good heart" of ortiz...utley just walked...no mention.
